  1. Offense is down significantly so far this year. April/24 MLB OPS .696 April/23 MLB OPS .726
  2. Me too. I also want Jessica Alba to move in next door and crave me sexually.
  3. Casas has a fractured rib. They're going to need to get a first baseman.
  4. Cora is easing him into it, trying to get his confidence back up.
  5. Absolutely. I was a bit facetious with that.
  6. That was the true failure, yes.
  7. Oh boy, another meaningless academic debate that should be good for 6 pages of posts... I think we all want the same thing, really. We want to make the postseason about 75% of the time, win the World Series a couple of times each decade, and have some players that are fun to watch... Most of us are skeptical that can be done with a small market payroll...
  8. Neither was a difference maker in any sense. Bloom just seemed to be a little too much at home dabbling in the margins...
  9. Agreed on all points.
  10. Seems like a pretty arbitrary statement. He obviously wasn't interested in making the 2023 team better with those moves. It was totally marginal stuff. But both moves had potential future benefits as it turned out.
  11. But you said he "failed", no?
  12. Per Wikipedia: Bailey serves as Director of Development for the Strike 3 Foundation, a non-profit charity dedicated to pediatric cancer research, founded by former Athletics and Red Sox teammate Craig Breslow.
  13. They must have waved some decent money at Bailey too. Especially considering the Giants were kind of in buy mode this offseason.
  14. I'd really prefer to see you predict something positive and be correct.
  15. Who do we think is most responsible for signing Bailey BTW?
  16. Sure, even in the good old days of 2 teams making the playoffs, period, there were massive upsets.
  17. None of us should be sure about anything LOL
  18. And they won 5 in a row before those 3 losses, including 2 against Atlanta. They were 15-8 in July. Pretty small sample stuff we're talking here.
  19. Not showing much love for what Houck and Crawford are doing.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if JH has already found a way to slide a little extra cash or coupons for free yacht rides into Andrew Bailey's pay envelope...
  21. The only thing that's making me a little nervous is the thought that John Henry is watching all this and thinking it's proof we can win on the cheap...
  22. When you look at what guys like Slaten, Weissert, and even Chase Anderson are doing, it speaks pretty well for the pitching evaluation guys...
  23. How's Reyes doing this year? He's a minus bWAR player for his career. Cora was not wrong in having some doubts about him, IMHO. Obviously they hoped Kike just had some temporary yips, and they also hoped he'd be a contributor on offense. The Dodgers used him at shortstop after they traded for him.
  24. The 2023 Dodgers had a differential of +207 and got swept in 3 by Arizona, a team with a -15 differential. They've turned it into an almighty crapshoot, which is appropriate considering how closely allied sports is with the gambling business now.
