  1. Yeah, looks like a superb trade by Breslow.
  2. Kutter Crawford vs. Reynaldo Lopez Lopez started his career as a starter, was converted to a reliever, and now has been converted back to a starter by the Braves, with impressive results so far. 5 starts, 30 innings, 5 ER. I'm not gonna use that word that Bloom used last year, but let's just say we're not favored in this one. Go Sox!
  3. Absolutely. If you're safe it was smart and aggressive. If you're out it was dumb and reckless.
  4. On this point you and I are in total agreement.
  5. But the Bruins have won 4 Game 7's against the Leafs since 2013. That's nuts! My brother-in-law is a devout Leafs fan, I feel sorry for him.
  6. If they miss the playoffs again this year, it's another failure, it's as simple as that, IMHO.
  7. The injuries make our pitching stats (157 ERA+!!!) even crazier than they already are.
  8. If the season ended today, the Sox would be out of the playoffs, despite having the best ERA in baseball, and the best ERA+ by miles! It really is a funny game.
  9. There are always going to be extremists. I think high 70's was probably the average pick. I went with 80.
  10. Criswell vs. Ryan Sox need to shake their lumber out of its slumber. PS congrats, Bruins fans and sympathies, Leafs fans.
  11. I disagreed with McAdam because he said Monty was a number 3 at best or something like that. I thought that was just dumb. But I don't dislike McAdam.
  12. I'm saying how can pitchers be less talented when they throw a lot harder?
  13. So if pitchers are throwing much harder on average than they did 20 years ago, which is an indisputable fact, that means they're less talented?
  14. And you tell other posters they're wrong wrong wrong all the time. So let's not get all sensitive.
  15. The average MLB OPS so far this year is .694. And that's with a universal DH, shift ban, and the other changes that were supposed to boost offense. The pitchers are winning, decisively.
  16. Henry is a pussy if Price broke him, seriously. We won 3 division titles and a World Series with Price. He was less of a bust than guys like Crawford and Pablo.
  17. I'm calling you old, man. Because you are. It's a fact. I'm old too, 68. I'm guessing you're about 75.
  18. My old man take is that baseball does have kind of a problem, and it's that pitching is too high-powered now. Everybody throws hard and with a ton of spin, and they are armed with all kinds of technical data about the best approach to take against specific hitters and all that. And they have shorter outings so they can max out. And of course they get injured like crazy. And the offenses don't really have much of an answer for the advances in pitching.
  19. And your explanation for all this is that baseball players just aren't as good as they were. Classic grumpy old man stuff. Okay, you can be that guy.
  20. That must be the ultimate eye test.
  21. "Baseball is down all across the board" - what exactly does that mean?
  22. He's had two good starts and one horrible one. Let's let the sample grow a bit.
  23. And the Red Sox are idiots because we're paying Giolito $19 million for 0 innings, right?
  24. We have a 2.58 team ERA compared to 4.52 last year. The man is worth 2 runs a game!
