  1. I heard all 3 promoted. Throwing the fans a bone.
  2. Well, they're the ones giving up 5-10 runs every game. Kidding, in an admittedly snarky way.
  3. Maybe the fact we had a bunch of guys with s***** four-seam fastballs that Bailey told them to ditch is kind of a bad thing. Other teams seem to catch on to what you're doing after a little while!
  4. A little in spirit, but not much in fact. I think they're done too. This pitching meltdown has been even worse than a pessimist would have predicted.
  5. Leave it to Fred to show us how gloom and doom is done.
  6. Something has gone wrong with Andrew's methods. His pupils have become a disaster zone.
  7. He can't hurt. But we're kind of in the midst of a total pitching meltdown here.
  8. Hell, we'll probably get some more lectures from Kennedy and Henry.
  9. Looks like it's gonna be deja vu for Craig all over again this offseason, assuring the fans that they're going to address the pitching and be aggressive about it...
  10. moon feels obligated to give a State of the Sox statement after every game. It's been a thankless task the last few years.
  11. If Sims and Garcia were great Friday night, that was more than likely a win.
  12. Yes, Cherington was able to sign a whole basket of mid-level guys after the Dodgers trade/purge. It worked great for one year.
  13. It's certain to end by September 29.
  14. Lackey was productive in 2013, that's what I meant.
  15. Now 6 in a row and 17 out of 20.
  16. I don't think anyone will argue with that last sentence. Another thing that can't be argued is that the Red Sox championship teams all included some pricy-and productive-free agent signings...
  17. That was an ownership level move. The Boston Red Sox do not trade Mookie Betts unless John Henry gives it the stamp of approval first. CBO's come and go, but Henry is the one with the lasting legacy, like Harry Frazee.
  18. Of course it doesn't guarantee winning, and of course that's not what I'm arguing. Is there a general correlation between spending and winning? Of course there is. It would be absurd to argue otherwise.
  19. But where's the pitching?
  20. Let's put it this way, we sure haven't proven we can make the playoffs without having one of the top payrolls...
  21. I object, and I'm one of the guys who considers 2020 a legit championship season, but it was 60 games and heavily impacted by a pandemic...
  22. DD is now on his way to 3 straight playoff appearances with the Phils. He spends big but generally delivers results on the spending. And somewhat ironically perhaps, the 2024 Red Sox are built on guys bequeathed by DD - Bello, Casas, Crawford, Duran, Houck and Rafaela.
  23. The losing and last place seasons have all been under Cherington and Bloom.
  24. They were a top tier payroll team in 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2018.
