  1. Matsuzaka threw a 21-pitch bullpen with no apparent issues. Sounds like he might be back a little earlier than had been expected.
  2. I think some of the nicknames like Hi Ho Silva and Short Order Cook are fine because they're clever/goofy Chris Berman type stuff. But Putritek is a whole other type of nickname.
  3. 'Intangibles ********', jung? I actually think that's pretty funny, especially after having about a million arguments over the last 5 years with people telling me what a lousy manager Francona was and how he was costing us 10 games a year. Well, I guess you weren't one of those people.
  4. Yes, the 2007 pitching numbers are very interesting. Beckett was the only starter who had an exceptional year, but we led the league in ERA. The overall numbers put up by the bullpen were outstanding, including guys like Delcarmen.
  5. Yes, but a) Elktonnick's statement was 'give me a team that has contended without a shortstop'. Our pitching flat out sucked in 2005-11th in the league in ERA. We won 95 games with sucky pitching and Rent-a-Wreck butchering it at SS.
  6. The Red Sox won it all in 2007 with Lugo. They made the postseason in 2005 with Rent-a-Wreck.
  7. But they could have MRI'd him much sooner than they did. The former medical staff's reluctance at doing MRI's was unfathomable.
  8. Whoever's throwing the ball the best out of the retread gang-Padilla, Silva, Cook etc.
  9. With all due respect, nick, maybe Colorado was the only team that had expressed any interest in trading for Scutaro. Maybe they weren't interested in waiting around for another week or two while the Sox tried to land their pitcher. Maybe this was the only window to do that deal. There are things that can't be controlled.
  10. Those are both pretty good, especially Aegean Stable Year.
  11. It wasn't Scutaro for a pitcher. That perception is coming from fans. They knew when they traded Scutaro that there was a very good chance they weren't going to sign Oswalt or Jackson.
  12. At least this makes some sense of the Scutaro move, to me anyway.
  13. Maybe we just jumped to the conclusion that the starter signing was close. Maybe what happened was they decided they were going to move Scutaro to free some budget room for a pitcher, and Colorado was the only team who was interested in Scutaro. They couldn't really tell Colorado to wait around till they got the pitcher signed. Maybe they have a budget set of 185 million or something like that. Just guessing obviously but I think there were reasons for why they made the Scutaro trade when they did.
  14. Please. I've read the foregoing comments several times now. I asked a very simple question and you had no answer for it. That 'read the thread!' nonsense is habitual behavior for you. And I thought you must be joking when you said no business can be successful by misleading their customers.
  15. Typical non-responsive answer. I think a smart customer is not being deceived by anything that's going on here. All that matters is the team that's on the field on opening day.
  16. In what way are they deceiving the customers?
  17. No I certainly don't expect a championship every year. I would be satisfied if they spend another 5-6 million to get another starter. It makes sense to me to increase the payroll from 180 million to 185 million when you so obviously need that other piece to have a shot at a payroll spot.
  18. Floyd's ERA is lacklustre but his peripherals are much better. Also his career numbers at Fenway are very good. Some other people I've read think Floyd would be a great fit for the Sox.
