  1. Fair enough, Byrd was probably a bad example. Clemens would have been a better one.
  2. I dunno, if Paul Byrd can get a phone call in 2009, it's far from inconceivable that Tim Wakefield can get one in 2012. Fred just better hope it's not one of the games he books a ticket for.
  3. I think Wake will be available for un-retirement for many years to come.
  4. I'd almost say you can bank on it.
  5. Holy crap, I have to agree with you 100% again.
  6. LOL exactly right.
  7. Yes, it could be ugly. Or we could be fortunate and find the nugget in the dung pile. We're not in a comfortable position, I agree. Personally I accept that it's our reality for this year.
  8. That depends on a lot of things. Catastrophe is a possibility but far from a certainty IMO.
  9. 2 questions: -How many postseason games does it take to not be SSS. -Should postseason games be given more weight than reg season games.
  10. I agree with all that.
  11. He has two of them actually...he's the man with the crystal balls.
  12. Panning for gold and finding a nugget in a pile of dung.
  13. Very sorry to hear it. One year older than me.
  14. Fred, I just can't get as emotional about it anymore. Maybe I've kind of distanced myself from it a bit. I've been following this team for 40+ years and it's taken its toll. Maybe they weren't prepared to start the season. I will readily admit it could be true. But then they played .650 ball for a few months. It was just a really bizarre season. And I have said repeatedly that it was Francona's time to go. But yes, I was a Francona man.
  15. They're going to need a whole separate training facility just for the dumpster projects.
  16. Woo-hoo! The Red Sox have officially set a new major league record for offseason signings of pitching reclamation projects.
  17. Anybody that thinks we should have said adios to Ortiz and gone with Lavarnway at DH needs to take a look at what that lineup would look like.
  18. Shoppach's overall offensive numbers, needless to say, are very s*****.
