  1. I liked Alex Gonzalez when he was here. I liked OCab too. I've always thought it was strange how those two keep getting shipped from one team to another. And yes, I know all the OCab rumors...
  2. It's ex-Sox players etc. so any players on other teams.
  3. Jed Lowrie has a .927 OPS. Now that ain't right.
  4. Papelbon is off to a great start, which doesn't surprise me at all. I think there's a good chance he'll continue to be one of the top closers in the game over the next 4 years.
  5. It does seem bogus and it should be stopped.
  6. Who's hot, but especially who's not? I'm always checking the numbers for ex-Sox players, Yankees, big-contract guys...anybody I'm hoping is doing poorly, in other words. Schadenfreude, right? And sometimes it's even interesting to see who's doing well. But this has to lead off with the L A Angels $240 million man, Albert Pujols. He is off to a start that I'm sure neither he nor the Angels fans and the people who signed him to that exorbitant deal envisioned in their worst nightmares. 26 games 202/245/279 524 OPS 0 HR 5 RBI Wow.
  7. The Yankees are having some s***** luck of their own this year.
  8. That's fine, I can understand some disagreement. Personally I think this was a good time to give him a shot.
  9. Look, if the team didn't think it could be in their best interest to give Bard a shot at starting, he wouldn't be doing it.
  10. Bard needs to be paired up with Shoppach, not Salty. Bard has a career 4.70 ERA with Salty catching him, and a 1.62 K to BB ratio. He had a 1.79 ERA pitching to Varitek, with a 4.75 K to BB ratio. His one game with Shoppach was his best, 7 innings, 6 K's, 1 BB.
  11. That's why I'm saying Mortensen did at least pitch better than anyone else against the A's.
  12. The time for the youth movement has arrived. Sometime in the near future they need to trade Salty, maybe Youk as well, bring up Lavarnway and bring Varitek in to work with him.
  13. Yeah, Oakland can't score runs at all, except for the 15 they managed to put up against our other pitchers in 2.7 games.
  14. Mortensen had a very nice outing. Maybe he will bolster the pen a bit.
  15. It'd also be nice if they could hire Varitek in some capacity and have him work with Lavarnway.
  16. I think they have to trade Salty and bring up Lavarnway and see what happens. They should be able to get a reliever or something for Salty. He's a decent hitter and he would make a functional backup but he's not a starter. This might not be the best time to trade him as far as matching up with another team, I don't know.
  17. Is Saltalamacchia the real problem with the team? We have an ongoing habit of losing games when he starts. Going into tonight's game the team is 53-62 in his starts. That's 0-5 in 2010, 47-49 in 2011 and 6-8 in 2012. Is he the unluckiest player in baseball?
  18. What's really bothering me is that numbers-wise, and game score-wise, this team is much too reminiscent of the team we saw last September. The team ERA was over 5.5 in September and now again in April. We're scoring 5+ runs a game on average, but so much of that is coming in blowouts. It's weird, really. I was expecting this team to play a different style of baseball or something.
  19. This offense is so freaking sporadic.
  20. I had to look at this a few times before I could believe it, but the Orioles have a group of 4 relievers-Johnson, O'Day, Ayala and Lindstrom, who have combined to give up 1 (one) earned run in 43 innings.
  21. V has been doing his homework then, studying the Cagy Hedging manual that was left behind by Tito.
