  1. 'Clean house' is non-specific blather. You could clean house and get much worse.
  2. Huh? No team is 'set up properly' for a one game playoff. It's a crapshoot extraordinaire, and a really really dumb idea at that. But anybody can win one of those things if they get that far.
  3. Some decent news from Pawtucket game tonight...Zach Stewart pitched 6 good innings and Bard, lo and behold, had a clean inning.
  4. Well, the consensus seems to be that Jeter is not a fine defensive SS and which team is leading the division again.
  5. Aviles's defence hasn't been that bad as far as I can see. 7 errors so far. FanGraphs has him at a UZR/150 of +14.
  6. Pretty hard to judge based on a series in Seattle. They have good pitching and the ballpark is a graveyard for offense. In Seattle's home games this year the average runs per game is 6.1. In their road games it's 10.0.
  7. I dunno Fred, the Yankees are down Sabathia, Pettitte, Rivera, Pineda and Chamberlain.
  8. Who's going to take Lester and give us an ace right now though? It has to make sense for the other team. If Seattle ever did agree to trade Felix to us they would make sure we were bleeding profusely - like Ellsbury + a package of our best prospects.
  9. I get too fired up about this stuff sometimes, especially when numbers are involved. My alltime favorite quarterback was Joe Montana. I'm not saying he was the best, he probably wasn't-top 10 I would have to say. The thing about Montana was he was so pretty to watch, the smooth fakes, the rollouts, the pinpoint passes. And he was a clutch performer. I think Super Bowl rings or NFL titles has to be a big part of how QB's are rated. I didn't like Terry Bradshaw but 4 rings, can't take that away from him. Ditto Troy Aikman and his 3 rings. The fact Brady has 3 rings plays a big part in the credit I give him. I didn't see Unitas or Bart Starr but obviously they were right up there at the top of the pedestal. Dan Marino and Dan Fouts were fantastic passers, but no championships, that's a downgrade. A few years ago I was in on a big discussion about who the best QB was and somebody made a strong case that Elway was the most gifted because of his ability to run as well as pass. It's all fodder for debate.
  10. Sounds like total nonsense to me.
  11. May they stay that way for 2 more games.
  12. I think this team is done trading top prospects for awhile.
  13. I'm not a Pats fan but trying to discredit Brady's record is absurd. Reg season 124-35 Postseason 16-6 5 AFC titles, 3 Super Bowls WTF do you want...
  14. To me this proposition doesn't make enough sense for the Mariners.
  15. Amazing. Could turn out to be a great move by Cherington.
  16. What type of pitcher would you prefer to face? Noesi or Felix?
  17. If Brady is the Jeter of football, Peyton Manning might be the A-Rod. Gaudy numbers, surprising letdowns in big games, one ring.
  18. And Verlander. Only thing that concerns me about Felix is how many innings he's thrown at his age-about 1500 MLB innings.
