  1. Ha ha...serves us right I guess. Nobody can predict s*** in baseball.
  2. Good stuff bats!
  3. 34 pitches for Grimm that inning. Let's not give him an easy second inning.
  4. Very true. We are going pretty good right now, so this series will be a test as to whether we can compete with the Rangers or not.
  5. No, but his opinion on Gomes is the one that is the same as the guys running the club.
  6. How's this for a stat? After 58 games, Drew and Iglesias have a combined total of 1 error.
  7. Lavs is just a complete unknown quantity at this point. He's not a writeoff by any means. But he might be a bust. Or a DH.
  8. OK, I retract the CERA on Lavarnway. But there's still nothing to suggest he would be a good replacement for Salty right now.
  9. I vehemently disagree. Lavarnway has done nothing at the big league level to show he's anywhere near ready to be a catcher. His CERA with the Red Sox is 5.58 and his OPS is .519. I think Salty has progressed defensively. It's reflected in our pitching performances. We're now T2 in the AL in ERA. In the last 7 games Salty has caught starts by Aceves, Morales and Doubront. And all of them have been solid outings and wins. Salty has to get some credit.
  10. Teixeira especially is probably going to take a long time to get it going. He's usually a slow starter and this year he didn't even have spring training. These guys returning from injuries are a real mixed blessing for the Yankees.
  11. Simple. Low run support so far. The Sox have averaged 3.73 runs a game in his starts. That'll be the explanation at least 90% of the time. Also in one of his losses I think he gave up 5 runs but only one was earned.
  12. Baseball's a funny old game isn't it? Nobody knows s*** about what's gonna happen next.
  13. One weird/interesting thing about Nava's splits: both for this year and his career, he has a higher OPS in games with a lefty starter vs. games with a righty starter. So he has really been mashing righty relievers that come in after a lefty starter!
  14. It's a 'good problem' though. The infield logjam can be resolved by DFA'ing Ciriaco, or trading Drew. We have a better team this year if we DFA Ciriaco. The outfield logjam is trickier.
  15. Yankees usually have a lot more trouble with lefties than righties at the Stadium, don't they? That park is a lefty's dream and a righty's nightmare. As the Fox announcers said, Hughes will likely be fleeing next year to a flyball-pitcher-friendly ballpark.
  16. Nava is 6th in the league in OBP, 9th in OPS and T8th in RBI.
  17. I don't think even Dojji imagined Nava having an .883 OPS and 37 RBI on June 1.
  18. It's weird, most of the highest strikeout totals are within the last few years.
  19. Question: if Napoli has 225 strikeouts and 115 RBI, is it a good season, a disaster, or a bit of both?
  20. Jose gives it a ride!
  21. That ball was smoked.
  22. Call them the Smoke and Mirrors Gang.
  23. Ellsbury has now gotten on base 22 times in the last 10 games. The start of this coincided exactly with the peak of the outcry to get him out of the leadoff spot. Just another reason to love this game.
  24. Who's Taylor's baseball team? Any idea?
  25. Man, the Phillies bullpen is pretty cooked if they're leaving this guy in.
