    Makes me think kinder thoughts about Tommy John, that's for sure. (John pitched for the Yankees in the 70's-80's and I hated him.)

    No, that'd be foolish on my part too. Anyway I was just trying to make a point, I don't really care that much either. I just think that the odds are that Bailey's name will show up in some MLB box scores again at some point. Like I said teams are just desperate for pitching and we can see why. The attrition is unbelievable.

    OK let's say we make a bet...if Bailey makes 10 MLB appearances by the end of 2016 I get $200. If he doesn't you get $100.

    I wouldn't count him out of baseball just yet. MLB teams are so desperate for pitching they will try out anybody who ever did anything and who can still get it to the plate at 89 MPH.

    Drew hasn't been that bad at all after April. He had a .771 OPS in May and a .791 OPS in June. Drew has 31 RBI in 232 AB. Young has 28 RBI in 333 AB. Young is a minimal upgrade over Drew at best.

    So it seems like there's 3 possible scenarios on Buchholz: 1) He's a pussy. 2) His injury is much more serious than originally thought. 3) Middle ground, he's not really being a pussy, the shoulder is still bothering him and he's worried that if he pitches today it's going to get worse. But it will get better soon.

    Young's OPS for 2012 was only .682. Any way you look at it the guy is aging out and a mediocre hitter at this point.

    Young's numbers for 2012-13 aren't better than Drew's. He's a lot more durable though.

    No doubt Buchholz seems to be the pitching version of Ellsbury. Tons of talent but a very frustrating amount of missed time.

    jung, these statements are an example of how over the top and all over the place your posts on this are. First of all, Buchholz is under the control of the Red Sox until 2017, which is 4+ years away, so it's a little early to be caring about what other GM's think. Secondly, Josh Johnson's injury-prone reputation didn't stop the Jays from making the big move for him. Thirdly, Johnson's current predicament is that his 2013 numbers are s*****, not that he's not on the field.

    Which means that A-Rod might play this year? Wouldn't that be crazy.

    Sure. But how do any of us know there wouldn't have been more danger by him coming back before this?
