Now it's reported that A-Rod is going to take a deal. I have to say MLB did a good job on all this. They boxed A-Rod into an impossible position. Checkmate. -

Yes, after yet another game-changing blown call by the umps. Overbay should have been rung up on a checked swing that went too far, which would have ended the inning 0-0. The crazy thing is that it was a virtual replay of the previous pitch, when the same checked swing got called a strike. More replay reviews are definitely on the way.

Showalter didn't even use the 7-run rule tonight with Gonzalez. Left him in for 9 runs plus a baserunner.

Quality Starts is a crude measure but at least it gives you some idea of how many good starts the guy has given you out of his total starts.
