  1. Almost all good tonight though. We beat the Rays, the Orioles lost, and if the Yankees have to win it might as well be against the Rangers.
  2. Cecil was outstanding most of the year but has been really bad lately. Maybe wearing down.
  3. Wow. You can take Joe out of Minny, but you can't take the MFY choke out of Joe.
  4. Orioles lose 3-2. They had the tying run at third in the 9th with no outs and Davis up and couldn't score.
  5. I think Hanrahan had some warning signs too. Anyway this is all just quibbling. I think Cherington did an outstanding job this offseason.
  6. He now represents potentially outstanding value to us in the short term. But for another team there's too much uncertainty and too little long term potential to give up much to acquire him.
  7. Uehara was a great signing. But to be fair, Ben also acquired Bailey and Hanrahan and paid them a pretty good chunk of change for nothing.
  8. I was joking with that comment. Koji is definitely better right now and I hope he keeps it up. But it's his 10th save as a Red Sox. I guess Papelbon has turned into one of these polarizing things where you're on one side or the other with no middle ground.
  9. When Koji does this for 6 years we'll talk.
  10. Wow, Tazawa and Uehara were their old magical selves tonight.
  11. Remember that 4-run lead Alex Wilson coughed up not that long ago?
  12. The Jays are playing extraordinarily wretched baseball. Leading 8-3 after the 6th inning tonight and now trailing 10-8.
  13. We can't worry about it User. You know the Yanks are going to get some financial relief on this somehow.
  14. We have to get some runs off Carmona next inning. You know that f***ing Maddon has 5 relievers lined up for us in a precision sequence.
  15. What I would say is that jung is doing his utmost to put Buchholz in a bad light.
  16. Now you're asking too much.
  17. The other fascinating plot is what other players might be suspended and will any of it affect the playoff picture.
  18. It's conceivable we could finish 3rd in the ALE and still get a wild card. But I agree that we don't have much of a margin for error. As of now we're a mere 4 games ahead of the last wild card spot.
  19. It certainly is a reasonable deal. Pedroia doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk. He wants to finish his career with the Sox and he's not obsessed with the last dollar - he knows he's making a vast amount of it as it is and he's not complaining.
  20. Personally I think the notion of trading Buchholz is out in the ether...something that might be fun to discuss on message boards, but that is extremely far removed from what's actually being considered by Cherington and the brass.
  21. The Rays are filling me with gloom. After Price and Moore they have Cobb, Archer and Hellickson. I think they may be emerging as the team to beat in all of baseball.
  22. Fred just did. Pretty smooth how he did it though, in two separate posts.
  23. Can't argue with that.
