  1. I swear to God, my pre-tournament pick to win the Masters was Bubba Watson. He's been playing well, he's won there already and he's been kind of under the radar in the pre-tournament chatter.
  2. They're 13th in runs scored at 3.6 per game, so it's not much of a surprise.
  3. A very putrid 10-game stretch. We probably had at least one 10-game stretch last year too, but in mid-season where you didn't notice so much. If the offense sucks just as bad for the next 10 games then we may have some serious issues.
  4. Excellent analysis. I don't think in his position Lester will accept less than 5 guaranteed years though.
  5. There it is in black and white. The Red Sox are #2 in revenue and #3 in franchise value.
  6. 5 @ 20 is the minimum. I'm afraid he may be asking for something more like the 6 @ 24 that Scherzer turned down.
  7. Well you're right. They are missing him a lot.
  8. I know. Him and BTR crack me up. They are like the guys on the Surviving Grady site.
  9. Exactly, that's a big part of it. I heard former catcher Gregg Zaun say this when he was covering a game where there was some controversy about it.
  10. All very true. No question that getting a good job is a huge part of life.
  11. This is going to be a tough one for the Sox FO. Letting him walk might be the smart thing, but there'll be hell to pay PR wise if he signs with the NYY or other top contender. Fans hated it when Pedro left too but he was clearly nearing the end. Lester could be a solid #2 and sometime #1 for 5 more years at least. He's proven to be a very durable guy and seems to have his stuff back. This has a way to go to play out.
  12. I don't think letting Lester walk is something the Sox want to do at all. It all depends how high his demands are. I'll be surprised if they can't come to an agreement but we won't know till we know.
  13. You can make all the perfectly logical rebuttals to SoxSport you want. He won't respond and he'll just say the same damn thing the next time. It's almost amusing.
  14. My DOB is Jan 18, 1956.
  15. Yes, I sure did have to look it up. Damn I love Baseball-Reference.
  16. Are you serious? Pineda isn't a rookie. He missed 2 seasons because of injury.
  17. That's pretty cool. But the 1946 team won the pennant by 12 games.
  18. He triple gagged last night, giving up 3 in the 9th, but they won in 10.
  19. Unfortunately, Williams had very few big hits in terms of resulting in meaningful late-season or postseason wins for the Sox. Williams was on 3 teams that were close either to winning it all or winning the pennant. And he did little in the crucial games for those 3 teams. A lot of that was just bad luck, no doubt.
  20. So they lost Mo and all they added was a LOOGY.
  21. Seriously WTF were the Yankees thinking not signing any relievers other than Matt Thornton, a guy who was so bad for us last year (1.76 WHIP) he didn't pitch in the postseason? With D-Rob on the DL, Shawn Kelley is the closer.
  22. Doesn't it feel like the price of pitching is going up by the day?
  23. Koji you are one sweet man.
  24. He was 0-5 against Cotts with 5 K's before that. Like many before him, it was time for Cotts to PAY.
  25. One of the things that's wrong is your math. They've lost 4 of 5 at home so far.
