  1. Another brutal loss.
  2. Get Jake Peavy Win #2! Poor guy hasn't won a game since April 25, in spite of having 7 Quality Starts since then.
  3. Personally it would be a bummer to me if it's serious. Not a Yankee fan obviously but this guy has been special so far.
  4. I'll agree that the Red Sox benefitted from some good fortune and some overachieving last year. The thing is, though, that this is not uncommon for World Series winners. You don't see too many 'superteams' that steamroll through the regular season and the playoffs. And we're not seeing any teams repeat.
  5. Fans aren't happy. They'll be even less happy if they don't re-sign Lester and he's in pinstripes the next 5 years.
  6. Gomes started because of his numbers vs. Jimenez - 7 for 18 with 3 HR.
  7. Yeah, that pissed me off too. Farrell let Gomes stay in against the righty because he had done OK against the lefty. Gomes wasted no time confirming the idiocy of the idea.
  8. They aren't going to blow up the team. I think they'll just unload guys who aren't here next year - Peavy, AJP, Gomes - for whatever they can get. Maybe even Koji, which will be a drag.
  9. The continued failure of the offense is in the area of the incomprehensible. Playing in Fenway, the Red Sox give up 2 runs to the Cubs in consecutive games and can't win either game. Mind-boggling. The only good thing is that the pitching continues to be very good.
  10. For starters, why the hell would you blame Farrell when the Red Sox FO signed Drew to play shortstop?
  11. Yes, I'll believe multiple legitimate reports that Jon Lester has agreed to sign with the Boston Red Sox. Until then nothing means anything.
  12. Still, at age 38 Ortiz's numbers are quite respectable - .834 OPS, 18 HR 49 RBI. Regression is normal for someone his age. We have a team OPS of .686. Horrific.
  13. The only Red Sox offence in the last 70 years that's worse than the 2014 team was the 1992 team. And the gap is getting very narrow. The 2014 team is averaging 3.76 runs. The 1992 team averaged 3.70 runs.
  14. Buchholz is an expensive asset so I think they have to get him back out there and see what the hell is going on with him.
  15. The Rays are expected to trade Price for young talent.
  16. No, Fred, if you check the game logs, most of Bogaerts' hot streak happened after Drew's signing was announced on May 21. Can't blame Drew for everything.
  17. No chance. What's his WAA? And where are the wins gained by the Yankees?
  18. Fred, Drew was in the lineup for the 3 Minnesota games that you started the thread for and we won. They have certain rules in this forum. One is that when you start a thread and the time wins you keep doing it until they lose.
  19. C'mon Spud. Anybody But the Yankees.
  20. My guess is it was a combo: a) They were planning a day off for him sometime around now. Cross-country flight. c) 10 for 55 career vs. Kazmir.
  21. 6 games in a row the Sox have scored 2 runs or less.
  22. Cherington is saying he expects Lackey to honor the existing contract.
