  1. Well, there's park adjustments and season adjustments. ERA+ adjusts for a lot of basic stuff. I think that 'strength-of-opponent' data you're talking about can be found somewhere too. Stat gurus can slice and dice just about everything now if you can make sense of their numbers.
  2. No stat that's commonly available. All you can do is look at team-by-team splits for individual pitchers.
  3. Joe Kelly could calm down the angst a little tonight...or not.
  4. It may be too early to panic. But it's not too early to be dubious.
  5. I suspect we'll find out if you're right by the time this season is over.
  6. I understand the rationale. By today's standards $13 million on a 1 year commitment is very cheap. I also understand why people have had enough with him.
  7. Kelly could calm things down with a good outing tonight. Another bad outing will pour more gasoline on the flames of panic about this rotation.
  8. Young has 7 PA's so far - 4 against righties (with 3 K's) and 3 against lefties.
  9. He's just not a good manager. It took me a while to come to this conclusion but I'm firmly there now. The early pulling of Shaw is bad, having Young hit against righties is worse. Does he propose to do this all season? Ludicrous.
  10. The sooner Farrell is gone the better. This business with Shaw is just another indicator.
  11. You can find CERA on b-reference under pitching splits for the team or splits for each pitcher.
  12. We might be screaming for Vazquez before we know it.
  13. There's no question that choking is an integral part of golf. Nicklaus's ability to not choke was almost inhuman.
  14. I had to change the channel when Spieth hit the second one in the water. Golf is a cruel game. I hope he can bounce back from this. Danny Willett played a hell of a round though, he's a worthy champion.
  15. Number 12 at Augusta is an easy place to do it. The green is very shallow and the winds swirl quite a bit. There have been many disasters there over the years.
  16. At the minimum, we need 2 of Larry, Curly and Joe to perform like average pitchers.
  17. Sure would be nice to see Porcello not follow in the footsteps of Buch and Kelly. These 3 guys are probably the key to the season.
  18. It's not just about the guy's career. Recent history shows that when a pitcher throws 140-150 pitches his arm isn't the same for about a month.
  19. Or, you could just go about your business, pretending the game isn't taking place, and read the box score in the morning.
  20. Looks like the course is playing super tough today. Best score in the house so far is 71.
  21. He's only one of our 3 Mr. X's, though, with Kelly and Porcello. If 2 Mr. X's come through we're in good shape. But it's asking a lot.
  22. The Jays picking up Donaldson and Tulo in the same year was nice work...
  23. What, you forget one of the most important calls in Sox history? Surely you've seen the Photoshopped pictures of A-Rod with the purse.
  24. Here we go LOL I didn't see the game, but did Tito have a right-hander ready in case they pinch-hit with Young there?
