  1. Oh yeah...Larry knows where a few bodies are buried.
  2. I wouldn't rule it out.
  3. The conspiracy theories are coming out now...I like it. One thing about the Red Sox FO is, they know how to keep a secret. You'll have better luck finding Jimmy Hoffa's body than you will getting the full truth about the goings-on in the Yawkey Way offices.
  4. Which specific advanced analytics got Blyleven in the Hall though?
  5. There's always the possibility it was a stupid move, too.
  6. That's true of virtually everyone who posts on message boards, in my experience.
  7. Sounds to me to like the correct answer.
  8. Bradley is an elite defender, so all he needs is an OPS is the .700 range. His minor league numbers suggest he can do it. But he's still an unknown quantity offensively, certainly.
  9. But DD was a perfectly logical choice from a baseball perspective don't you think?
  10. And you're just the man to do it.
  11. Don't worry, this forum is a big part of my social life now too.
  12. Personally I have no gripes at all with John Henry. I'm quite fond of him, in fact. My reasoning is simple. Since he bought the team we have 3 championships and he continues to spend a shitload on the team. Plenty of mistakes have been made, sure. For me the mistakes are more than made up for by the aforementioned.
  13. She also has about 4,200 posts since joining in January so I would hazard a guess she generally enjoys posting here.
  14. Hard to say, but it might not have happened if Henry's old pal Dombrowski hadn't just become available.
  15. I guess the issue is that the eligibility guidelines are kind of muddy now.
  16. Either that, or John Henry doesn't feel like adding another $16 million or so to a payroll that's already well over the tax threshold. Blame it on Ben!
  17. Yeah right. You're about as subtle as a pickaxe.
  18. Don't forget, though, that they had previously traded Adam Warren and Justin Wilson. It wasn't that long ago Jacko was wondering what the hell they were doing to their bullpen.
  19. Hey, you're the one who said 4.8 mil per win. That's all I was responding to.
  20. If it makes you feel any better, the Yankees were almost unbeatable last year when they had the lead after 6 innings - they were 57-2 in that situation on Sept. 8/15 when there was a story about it. So they actually can't get much better in that department.
  21. It's the truth, dude. Look up the current dollar value per WAR on FanGraphs if you don't believe me.
  22. It's not a bargain, but it's pretty much the market rate.
  23. Police couldn't find enough evidence to charge Chapman for assaulting his wife. However, the fact that he fired 8 gunshots in his garage is not in dispute. That's a lot of gunshots for no particular reason. Sounds like a guy who has some serious issues, at the very least. This looks an extremely good baseball move by the Yanks. It also looks like a terrible PR move. As a Sox fan, needless to say, I hope it backfires - no pun intended.
  24. I'm not sure there is a consensus that the moves so far make us a contender in 2016. Adding Price, Kimbrel, Smith and Young should probably add 10 wins. That would take us from 78 wins to 88 wins. A number of people here think we still need to add a good #2 pitcher. If they're right, it means we had to add a #1, a #2 and 2 premier relievers. That's a fair amount of upgrading to the pitching staff.
