  1. Perhaps, but it's pretty much the same formula the Royals have been using with great success.
  2. Might be a good pickup for them.
  3. It just doesn't matter. Wright, Papi, Bogey, JBJ and Betts all have been tremendous.
  4. It's certainly a valid point that we might have been able to get a decent starter for that package. What we have to consider is that they may have made a serious effort to trade for a starter but found that the only way they could land what they wanted, a cost-controlled TOTR starter, was to give up Betts or Bogey.
  5. Congratulations to Dustin Johnson on his first major championship win. Very well deserved. He paid his dues with some very tough losses in previous majors. He also had to overcome a bizarre ruling situation yesterday.
  6. That was a great game. 20 lead changes. Great win for Cleveland. Lebron and Irving were both awesome.
  7. In this case a successful bunt would have brought in a run, so it's a little more defensible.
  8. Hey, I'm an old guy too, but times change and that's a simple fact. When hitters are looking at video of the opposing pitcher on an Ipad before coming to the plate, when shifts are being deployed based on analyze of hitters' charts, yes, technology has become part of the game. And still the human element remains strong. No sense clinging to something that has so obviously become obsolete.
  9. Kimbrel is just in-your-face Country Hardball.
  10. Another potentially game-changing bad call today. Price struck Gutierrez out in the 4th just before Gutierrez homered.
  11. I disagree. Swihart was the #1 catcher at the start of the year. They didn't know how long it would be until Vazquez was ready. Then when they sent Swihart down they started giving him those reps in left. Seems like unfounded criticism to me.
  12. Well, it might be a 'false choice' now, but it wasn't at the beginning of the year, when Swihart was a catcher.
  13. Everybody here wanted Holt to start in left over Castillo. Well, almost everybody I guess.
  14. The scribes all have their 2 double-sided stories ready to go. Story 1 A. Cleveland finally wins something; LeBron is Superman! B. Warriors historic season ends in choke job! Story 2 A. Warriors cap historic season; triumph over all adversity and silence all doubters! B. More heartbreaking disappointment for Cleveland; Lebron falls just short yet again, now 2-5 in Finals!
  15. Moon is trying to acquire pitching and get rid of Castillo in one fell swoop. He thinks big.
  16. When did Clemens lie? Hmmm...
  17. And striking out both Cano and Cruz in that situation was very impressive.
  18. Pitching pitching pitching. That's all we need.
  19. 112 wins is a lot to ask. But they only have to go 54-42 (.563) the rest of the way to win 100. So it's really just a question of how many games over 100 they win - assuming they don't get hit by the injury demon in a big way.
  20. Nothing wrong with those numbers.
  21. We've had way too many enigmas the last 3 seasons.
  22. He may have been. But run differential doesn't lie.
  23. They are an incredible 24-3 in blowout games. 65 games into the season and they have already won 24 games by 5 runs or more! That's nuts.
  24. Pace means something when you maintain it. Tiger Woods won all his majors when he took the lead fairly early and stayed there, crushing everybody else's hopes. In none of his 14 major championship wins did he trail going to the final round. He was the ultimate front-runner.
