  1. Their best option is to petition MLB to shorten games to 6 innings. That last game in Baltimore was a beautiful thing, as Eck would say.
  2. Yeah, things went a little off topic there. Oh well, there's a first time for everything.
  3. Sandoval was a bad signing, obviously, but he had the best regular-season numbers of any third baseman that was available that offseason.
  4. I don't think we have a single reliever who hasn't had a disaster within the last week or two.
  5. Right now our bullpen is like playing Russian roulette with 4 bullets in the chambers. Usually it ain't gonna work out too good.
  6. McCann has certainly been a semi-bust. It'll be interesting to see if Cashman can get anything for him. I just think that free agency in general has been a shitshow since the salaries went into the stratosphere. The Yankees have certainly been burned by that reality big time, and the Sox have joined them and quite frankly outdone them with the $167 million for nothing on Panda and Castillo.
  7. Well, that's one way to look at it. I can just imagine what the talk would be right now if another team traded for Pomeranz (which most certainly would have happened) and we did nothing to improve our rotation, which everyone agreed needed to be improved.
  8. FanGraphs does. 17 mill doesn't go that far anymore...
  9. McCann's contract is half-bad, which puts it in the same category as a lot of free agent contracts.
  10. For wasted money, nothing can top the Sox troika of Panda, Castillo and Craig. 200 million for absolute zero.
  11. I think it has a lot to do with E-Rod and Pomeranz pitching well.
  12. No one has faith in Clay. But we all have hope.
  13. I think the more Clay looks like Fire Marshall Bill the better he will pitch.
  14. I think the problem nowadays is that people ignore the human element to the game and try to quantify every decision numerically. Sometimes a peak lineup may not be evident simply by number crunching.
  15. Nailed as usual.
  16. That's why I never criticize management about lineups.
  17. Never heard that one before. It's very evocative.
  18. Well, let's see...in the series with the Yanks he pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 3 earned runs. I have no complaints with Barnes, but you're overselling him...he's had his rough spots too.
  19. You are loco, amigo.
  20. Kimbrel has been lights out most of his career...don't write him off just yet.
