  1. I think Mookie would still be hitting leadoff if the offense in general hadn't been struggling. It also had a lot to do with Xander struggling.
  2. You missed the word 'prime' that I so carefully inserted.
  3. I don't really know for sure. But you can't make the plays at second much better than Pedroia has for us. How would a tandem of prime Omar Vizquel and prime Pedroia look?
  4. I think it was Whitey Herzog who was asked what was the difference between a good manager and a bad manager and promptly answered 'A good bullpen'.
  5. I shall tone nothing down! This board is one of the few places I can assert my existential freedom to be a jackarse once in a while!
  6. You must really like the color gray then. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I don't find them super-ugly, it's more a case of not being able to get over how gray they are and why they decided to go that route.
  7. Good job boys. Also, I think Arizona might have the grayest uniforms in the history of sports uniforms. They really went all in on gray.
  8. Papelbon has been released by the Nats.
  9. Double bingo, lads!
  10. There's definitely some confirmation bias. Once you've become convinced that Farrell is incompetent, you will tend to find incompetency in everything he does. I've been subject to it myself lately.
  11. Well, strictly for funsies... Through 132 PA's Leon is 383/423/617 In 2013, in his first 159 PA's Jose Iglesias was 410/459/528. After that was when Iggy started his regression.
  12. Francona ranks pretty high if you ask me. 2 rings with the Sox and a MOY with Cleveland. His record in Cleveland is validating his record in Boston.
  13. It might seem that way, but his OPS+ is virtually identical to what it was in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
  14. Actually the main complaint was that he left Price in too long in the 8th, not that he started the 8th.
  15. For Price to be a stopper he has to pitch a 2-hit shutout on 95 pitches and stop Farrell from having to think.
  16. Here's the classic quote from George Steinbrenner when the Yankees got A-Rod: "We understand John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated, and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston."
  17. I can't wait to see what my sig line is.
  18. This team is cooked for the simple reason that the bullpen is a disaster. I see no signs of hope for that changing.
  19. Yeah, the team just seemed to be playing a better brand of ball under Lovullo, but it might have had little to do with him.
  20. We don't really know what it would do for the team. They did play better last year when JF left. That might have been a coincidence or it might not. Right now the team looks like a sad sack of s***.
  21. Not to crap on your thread, Dewey, but there are only a few, they're obvious, and you listed them. I actually thought the beaning by Dempster was a really dumb play. It happened early in the game, Dempster pitched like crap and the Yanks came back and won the game.
  22. Jeez, I was obviously talking about Price.
  23. We supposedly did get a 'true ace' though, remember...how's that workin' out. The good news is we didn't trade the farm for Sonny Gray, at least...
  24. I'd hope Farrell's reasons were a little more, but maybe that was it...
