    Personally I think Buehler would be worth a shot, "but only of course if it's not an exorbitant price tag", adds Cap'n Obvious. Upside is upside, man. And he has some. A lot of people said Dombrowski gave that $68 million extension to Eovaldi based on one nice playoff run. But I think time has validated that Eovaldi is a near-elite talent and great character guy with obvious injury concerns, who is going to end up with a pretty nice major league resume. .

    The adjustments and injuries are understandable, but those are only part of his package of issues. Now the fact that we have 2 other left-handed DH types who are better hitters makes Yoshida virtually useless. If they trade Casas that might change the outlook a little. As always, I'm just jabbering away here, I don't know anything everyone else doesn't know too. 😁

    He has a ceiling of 1.5 WAR. The numbers bear that out. I'm not ripping him just for the sake of it. He's a below average player and a roster clog. Sucks but that's the way it is.

    In 2023 he got tired/had adjustment issues. In 2024 he had injury issues/couldn't hit lefties. Just an egregiously misguided signing.

    He hit well in July and August. The rest of the year he stunk. He won't be missed.

    And if they don't trade Casas we're going to be stuck with bad defense at 1B and 3B for another season. Holding onto Yoshida any longer feels like postponing the inevitable.

    Right, and that's why Breslow should be commended for doing something bold here. I think he gets it.

    Plus if Pitt intends to continue as a viable baseball franchise, they shouldn't be trading Skenes at all, needless to say.

    Extend him right away or wait until he proves himself a little more? It's a classic baseball economic dilemma.

    We have 3 left-handed DH types in Devers, Casas and Yoshida. It's not ideal. This was one of the dumbest signings ever.

    D is probably the closest. I would guess they went into it with a predetermined limit which appears to have been around $700.

    As I said earlier, in September Crochet pitched 17.1 innings, Kd 29 and walked 2. That's some dealin', folks.

    He's a special case though. The way I read it, the biggest possible money difference between any two teams trying to sign him is $2.4 million.

    It's not going to be a lot of money in any case. The consensus is he'll sign where he wants to play.

    He pitched 146 innings. I expect they'll bump it to 160-170. I really think Andrew Bailey can handle this. The stuff chart Brock posted is kind of the clincher here.

    C'mon guys, the 4 inning starts were because White Sox were micro-managing his innings the second half. Give them some credit for trying to do the right thing. As moon keeps pointing out, 65 was his previous high. This ain't rocket surgery.

    moon, I get the CERA thing, but consider this. I'm posting this before I even re-check the numbers. I'll come back and add them. Numbers are regular season only. 1) Houck and Whitlock have their best CERAs with him. Houck 99 IP 1.64 ERA .528 OPSa Whitlock 116.1 IP 2.40 ERA .623 OPSa 2) The guy he caught in Houston had a great CERA with him. Cristian Javier 34.1 IP 1.31 ERA .388 OPSa 3) Maybe he works really well with certain pitchers. The sample size of pitchers you're using for his CERA comparisons is actually pretty small.
