    IMHO the Betts situation can't be compared to any other contract negotiation. This is a guy who'll go down as one of the very best. Henry treated it like just another calculation.

    I do feel a little sorry for Judge. He's being portrayed by Yankee fans/media as a historic choke artist. Nobody needs that.

    Turns out Friedman is a really hands on guy. Just reading about how deeply involved he was in the pitching plans last night after Flaherty bombed out, right down to talking to Buehler in the clubhouse.

    If Henry approved what it took to keep Mookie the Sale extension might not have happened. There's just no limit to the bad things that flowed from Henry's horrific failure.

    Ugly game for Yankee fans, but a reminder of what a weird and beautiful game baseball is, where you never really know what's going to happen next, and numerous little things can decide the final outcome.

    Mookie handled it well. He was really pissed about it at the time, as well he should be, the idiots could have injured him. After the game he said it was irrelevant, he wasn't hurt, they lost the game, life goes on, end of story.

    Baseball is the only game where there is such a thing as fan interference, isn't it? I don't remember any fan interference calls in the NFL, or NBA, or NHL.

    I find that blunders don't bother me quite as much when we get a ring out of it.

    In 2020 players got paid on a pro-rated basis, so about 40% of full salary. Eovaldi would have lost about $10 mill out of $17.

    So much randomness in play here LOL But along the same lines, I always thought David Price earned a big chunk of his contract in the 2018 ALCS and WS. The ring is the thing.

    He was more consistent in 2023-2024, worth about 20 mill each year.

    Bloom did not make one single move that got Sox fans excited at the time he made it. Which is not to say that they were all bad moves by any means, some turned out to be good and even very good. But it's basically been 5 years of Sox fans being nonplussed.
