  1. I know Chapman has the stigma of being heavily endorsed by notin, but still... Chapman 31.2 fWAR 4235 PA = 4.42 fWAR per 600 PA Bogaerts 40.7 fWAR 6517 PA = 3.75 fWAR per 600 PA
  2. The new Red Sox are all about the middle. Masters of mediocrity is the goal. Nailed it to perfection in 2024.
  3. In on Pivetta, out on O'Neill. But if do they offer one to both I'm fine with it.
  4. Bogaerts was flawed too. There are hardly any flawless ones IMHO. Plus Boras has always done things this way. Still strikes me as a tad weird.
  5. https://985thesportshub.com/2020/06/06/torii-hunter-says-he-had-no-trade-to-boston-because-of-racial-abuse-from-fans/
  6. And they had to outbid other teams. And we go from that to Boras's Big Four getting stiffed the following year. Strange doin's.
  7. Another thing I'll never get is fans throwing home run balls hit by the other team back on the field, including ones that could be worth serious dough like Freeman's in Game 4. To me it's stupid on multiple levels.
  8. Yeah, that was indeed the ridiculous part, the coverage that made it seem what these guys did was funny or even admirable.
  9. With the bat, but he added to his hitting struggles with a costly dropped fly ball. Plus Ohtani was pretty obviously playing hurt.
  10. To be brutal about it, Devers is half the player, making about the same money.
  11. Soto all the way, especially because he seems 100% healthy whereas Devers now has barking shoulders. A moot point of course. Soto is going to get a frighteningly big contract.
  12. IMHO the Betts situation can't be compared to any other contract negotiation. This is a guy who'll go down as one of the very best. Henry treated it like just another calculation.
  13. I do feel a little sorry for Judge. He's being portrayed by Yankee fans/media as a historic choke artist. Nobody needs that.
  14. Turns out Friedman is a really hands on guy. Just reading about how deeply involved he was in the pitching plans last night after Flaherty bombed out, right down to talking to Buehler in the clubhouse.
  15. Get ready for some Burnes/Fried Interest Kings fun...
  16. We'll never really know what Henry was thinking. I can't help wondering if he just got pissy because Mookie seemed to be playing hardball with him.
  17. What's the difference between a TOTR and an ACE, BTW?
  18. And the Dodgers are set up way too good. I even saw an ugly rumor they're going to be in on Soto.
  19. What art thou talkin' about? From 2007 to 2011 he racked 23.9 fWAR, an average of 4.8...
  20. If Henry approved what it took to keep Mookie the Sale extension might not have happened. There's just no limit to the bad things that flowed from Henry's horrific failure.
  21. Good cop bad cop!
  22. Ugly game for Yankee fans, but a reminder of what a weird and beautiful game baseball is, where you never really know what's going to happen next, and numerous little things can decide the final outcome.
  23. It was a defensible signing, I think we can say that much.
