    Actually moon, having followed this whole discussion with a lot of interest, I think one of your statements that got Max worked up, and bothered me as well, was that we would have a 10 or 15 game lead without all the mental mistakes - suggesting they had cost us 5 to 10 games.

    Personally I have seen some good spirit and desire with this team. After all, they just won a 19 inning game that they trailed 2-0 going to the 9th. They seem to me to be having fun, what with the outfield dance and the little ritual they have after a home run with Mookie taking the guy's helmet off. They now have 10 walkoff wins, which I assume is pretty close to the most. None of that stuff even matters that much to me, all I really care about is the W-L record.

    Not much in baseball truly mystifies me anymore. You just have to accept that it's the nature of the game to be mystifying.

    Yeah, not arguing that, but the principle in effect would seem to be that the team gets punished for the actions of its employees...which is probably on pretty solid legal ground.

    Um, it depends how hard you get punched? Punches have killed people.

    That's kind of oversimplifying don't you think? A lot of pitchers have been successful with 2 pitches. Hell, Mariano Rivera only had one.

    Yes but the .821 only applies if you put the ball in play. I think we've been swinging at more first pitches recently, but I could be wrong about that.

    For me, more to the point about Estrada is that, like many pitchers having s***** years, there are some good games mixed in there. On August 10 he blanked the Yanks for 7. Now if you want to say we've been making too many s***** pitchers look good this year, I wouldn't argue with that.
