Bogey's numbers in the 3 slot this year - 279/336/449 - 785 OPS. The 449 SLG is higher than any of our regulars except Mookie's 458. I really think you're making much too big of a deal out of it.
There's so much uncertainty in the whole process. If Dombrowski doesn't trade for Sale maybe we're in third place right now and we don't even make the playoffs to get that chance. Nobody knew Price was going to be injured and Porcello was going to regress so much and our offense would score so many fewer runs. I think you were of the opinion that we didn't need Sale this year.
Another early hook by Girardi. Tanaka lifted at 4+ ahead 6-3. Joe is really betting hard on that bullpen to carry the mail. The Yanks play tomorrow night, too.
OK, so with this new jersey nickname thing, how about some humorous alternate nicknames for Red Sox players past and present? They have to be fairly short ones.
I'll start with a suggestion for David Price: YUCK YOU
I think that's a valid point. I think Henry is a little more proud and competitive as a baseball owner than he's given credit for, because he's the classic thin pale weird rich geek.
You're right that it's not a cap, but the escalating tax rates and penalties, some of which now affect the team's ability to acquire young talent, have made it extremely stupid to exceed certain thresholds.
