  1. Looks like a very good deal for the Yanks. Cashman has been on a roll.
  2. We need several guys to start hitting up to their abilities, most notably Mookie and XB.
  3. I see we're starting to swing at some first pitches.
  4. Yankees get Gray.
  5. Might have won yesterday's game with him instead of Barnes, no?
  6. I'll give you a 'well played' on that one.
  7. Most people like explanations, not enigmas.
  8. I think they were in "win now but reset the luxury tax" mode.
  9. Wait till we introduce him to our shoulder strengthening program.
  10. Ben has done great as a GM since leaving Boston.
  11. It's a response to jacko's authoritative pronouncement that because Ortiz is gone we're seeing less fastballs. DISPROVEN
  12. If they were truly in "win now and f*** everything else" mode they would have signed Encarnacion.
  13. This is a statement that can be proven or disproven out with data. Are pitchers throwing us less fastballs this year? Anybody?
  14. So now we're not even going to make it to the cliff.
  15. Is that horse not dead enough yet?
  16. Barnes should have never have been the setup guy. Have to blame Dombrowski for 2 whiffs on setup guys he acquired.
  17. Amazingly the Rays got out of that one. Can they hold on 3 more innings?
  18. I trust there's no further confusion between what Bogey will get in arb next year and what Boras would want to sign him long term.
  19. Or based on what we've seen, 'It's your call buddy!'
  20. I get that. But if you sign Chris Young II you have to pay him, and you also have to keep paying Castillo. That's the point.
  21. a) Not in incremental cost. How would it not count against the cap?
  22. Bunting there wasn't a good move though.
  23. There's no indication he didn't understand that. A callup of Castillo will probably incur luxury tax, but his salary is indeed a sunk cost, so it could be cheaper to call up Castillo than to sign a free agent at dollars similar to Chris Young's deal for example.
