You don't think he'd listen on a healthy 6 year offer - one that would make him wealthy for life AND give him a shot at another big payday while still in his prime?
Quite honestly I think most people now recognize the limitations of this stat, and I don't think there are very many managers who pay attention to it.
About the only thing I look at with saves is blown saves and save %.
Young really isn't going that well. He had that one monster game on August 6 with 2 homers and a double. That will really jack your OPS when you don't play regularly.
In the 3 weeks since then his OPS is .492.
This is not scapegoating.
His second half OPS is 758 according to B-R, and that was built largely on the strength of one good game that bumped his OPS 54 points. Since then he has stunk again.
He has stunk most of the year. He has a minus WAR.
