  1. Pinch hitting Holt there was questionable but hardly horrific. He put up a decent 8 pitch at-bat which may have contributed to what followed.
  2. It's a nice spelling, wrong or not. Makes it sound like a hair salon.
  3. Mookie is so freaking good that it's a shock to the system to see him struggle. If he gets hot he can still finish the season with an .850ish OPS.
  4. Sure, when in doubt, blame the manager.
  5. Yeah, Castillo sort of got screwed twice, first by the old rule and now by the new one. They really have a dilemma on their hands if he continues to play well. Do they really want to pay him for 3 more years to play for the PawSox?
  6. Mookie is still Mookie.
  7. I was just doing a little reading about Castillo's situation. What I hadn't realized was that the new CBA basically prevented teams from doing what the Sox did with Castillo and Craig anymore, removing them from the 40-man to get them off the payroll for tax purposes. Which was the right thing to do, I would say.
  8. Or Lynn vs. Rodriguez.
  9. A lot of those struggles have to do with opposing pitchers having 'the book' on their strengths and weaknesses and changing how they pitch to them, don't you think?
  10. Where did you get your pitchfork and torch - Home Depot?
  11. Stanton might not be seeing a lot of good pitches to hit going forward. He might get the Barry Bonds treatment.
  12. Maybe so, but you usually have a general idea what the other team is going to want in a trade because of the position they're in. Like when we traded with the White Sox for Sale, the return of Moncada and Kopech was about what you would have expected.
  13. Mainly I see more guys crossing the plate.
  14. The trick is you have to come up with a proposal that would make some sense for Miami. They would be especially interested in Benintendi, Devers, and Groome.
  15. I care in the sense that it affects the team we see on the field. If there was no budget, Encarnacion would be on the 2017 team.
  16. This makes no sense to me. You're saying that because Nunez, Devers and Beni are raking and we're scoring more runs as a result that you can now see fire and desire again.
  17. I don't get the 'lack of fire and desire' thing. I don't see anybody loafing or missing games for suspect reasons. I see lots of bonehead mistakes on the bases, but that's different. I see lots of celebrating in the dugout which seems to indicate decent team spirit. Don't see the 'lack of fire and desire' thing.
  18. What are we talking about?
  19. Not many on this board, I would agree. What gets me is the commentators who make a big deal out of whether it's a save or non-save situation. Makes them sound incredibly stupid.
  20. They are indeed 3-0 in his starts. I have to say I'm surprised that teams were able to pick up good bats for peanuts this year-Bruce, Duda, Nunez.
  21. And that our offense should now be good because we have a big bat anchoring it!
  22. But now we've got Raffy, so that's all changed.
  23. I get your point, but I could also probably dig up a bunch of posts that say we can't hit good pitching LOL
  24. Kimmi was talking about batting order, as in 'Mookie should not be hitting leadoff!' I'm not sure where the confusion is.
  25. He would have improved our offense, pretty hard to deny that.
