    He might be, but you're taking on a lot of money and presumably giving up a prospect or two as well. Not exactly an easy get.

    It appears that the goal for this year was to have everyone end up with the same OPS. They just might pull it off.

    Workman continues to look excellent. His return has been a blessing for this team.

    Quite honestly I think most people now recognize the limitations of this stat, and I don't think there are very many managers who pay attention to it. About the only thing I look at with saves is blown saves and save %.

    Young really isn't going that well. He had that one monster game on August 6 with 2 homers and a double. That will really jack your OPS when you don't play regularly. In the 3 weeks since then his OPS is .492.

    It rarely works. Can you think of a team or a GM that has consistently done well at it?

    The 'piggy back' usually involves 2 #5/#6 type starters, so I'm not sure how successful it would be on an ongoing basis.

    I didn't say I blamed Young for our run-scoring issues. I was just ruminating about giving Brentz a try in his place.

    I would call it patience, but certainly there can be a fine line there.

    This is not scapegoating. His second half OPS is 758 according to B-R, and that was built largely on the strength of one good game that bumped his OPS 54 points. Since then he has stunk again. He has stunk most of the year. He has a minus WAR.

    I don't know, I've seen a fair number of misplays out there by opposing fielders.
