  1. I think we're all feeling pretty high on Mister Fister right now, because in his last 3 starts he's given up 4 earned runs in 23 innings-against Cleveland, Baltimore and the Yanks no less. May it continue!
  2. Doug Fister - thanks Dave!
  3. I think everything matters in baseball, and there are a lot of things that can contribute to an individual game's outcome. I think it's fair to say that this team has made an unusually high number of bonehead plays this year and they've cost us some runs. There's no way to measure how many games they've cost, but saying it's 5 or 10 is totally unsupportable. Saying it's cost a couple would be much more reasonable.
  4. Fighting ain't too good for my game if Chris Sale takes a swing at someone and breaks his hand.
  5. You can call a Yankee player anything you want.
  6. Marrero is a career black hole.
  7. He doesn't go on tiny sample sizes.
  8. Stanton has an opt-out after 2020. If you're thinking in terms of a ticking clock for the Marlins that might be it. But that's 3 more seasons. I don't think trading him now makes any sense at all for them.
  9. Xander's value is dropping by the day, locking him up is pretty much by the boards now. Locking up Betts still makes sense though, I think, and I believe a 6 or 7 year offer is what is needed. I do believe Mookie will figure it out on the offensive end. I have faith in him as a long term star. If you let him get to free agency there's a good chance he's gone.
  10. Good stuff oldtimer.
  11. I'm still a little unclear why the Marlins would be heavily motivated to trade him. He's their franchise right now. He's a young megastar. If you can't keep that kind of player maybe you should just move the franchise.
  12. I guess we just lost that game every which way. But what stands out to me is that our hitting consisted of 4 singles. It was our popgun Noffense at its ugliest.
  13. I agree that the 4 games was too light. Cabrera got 7 games. It seemed like the Yanks got a discount because they're still in contention for the playoffs. The appeals are supposed to be dealt with today I think.
  14. Pablo is racking up more negative WAR with the Giants.
  15. You could put Fister in the pen, available in that 'piggyback starter' role we've had some discussion about.
  16. I guess there should be some credit to Farrell for patiently sticking to the plan there.
  17. And a foolish inconsistency is the demon of flip-floppers. There, I think we have it covered.
  18. The Yanks seem in disarray, but in their favor they have 4 good starters lined up against us this series.
  19. Who knows? He couldn't do much worse than Young, who has, incredibly, 1 home run and 4 RBI against lefties all year. You were actually one of the posters who got me all worked up about Brentz...I don't usually even follow the minor league stats. So take that!
  20. That is what Kimmi would call an enigma.
  21. We all get a little knee-jerky at times. You were advocating banishing Moreland to the bench not long ago.
  22. I believe moon is saying it doesn't matter if, for example, Mookie is hitting 3rd or 9th as far as how he performs. But it matters as far as optimizing the lineup.
