  1. Porcello and Fister were really not much different over their last 5 starts - both awful.
  2. I just did. Station13 said he preferred Fister over Porcello. That was about it. They both stink, that's why I couldn't see anybody getting that excited about it.
  3. I find that hard to believe.
  4. It was a rather confusing exchange. Spudboy said replacing Farrell was not our most pressing need. You agreed with that. Then Spud said 'So why bother doing it?' Then you kind of jumped on him.
  5. We've really been getting the sucky start times.
  6. Benintendi making an ill-advised throw has nothing to do with base running philosophy.
  7. But you have commented numerous times that you think Farrell's aggressive baserunning philosophy costs the team runs. When you lose 2-8, 2-8, certainly, baserunning can not be said to be a big factor.
  8. Evidence for dumb baserunning? Well, we led the majors in Outs on the Bases with 81. Next highest was 70. MLB average was 53. Some of the OOB can certainly be chalked up to aggressiveness. But if you watched the games there were clearly an unusual number of WTF moments where guys were thrown out by 10 feet and so on.
  9. That's the truth. Unfortunately, it does look like major league baseball became somewhat homer-centric this year.
  10. I know, Piniella makes 2 plays in that game he had no right to make...baseball gods were unkind to us that day.
  11. In fairness, many people have been complaining about the offense all year LOL
  12. But what about our hitting in the first 2 games of this series - should we really be dismissing that as a non-problem? Our slash line in the first 2 games is 227/278/288 = 566 OPS
  13. You should be beyond worry LOL. Porcello's 2016 season was clearly the outlier. Swapping Lester for Porcello still looks like a horrible move.
  14. The big problem is we're very restricted financially. 'Cut Hanley loose' sounds nice, but we're paying him 22 million next year, so getting some value out of him would be better. And we're paying Pedey for several more years, so all you can do is cross your fingers for health.
  15. I hear ya. There was also the fateful moment in Game 5 when Tony Clark hit the ground-rule double that would have driven in the series-winning run if it didn't bounce over the wall in the right-field corner. The baseball gods were smiling on us that year, for once.
  16. Maybe overshadowed by the lousy starting pitching, but the hitting was awful in the 2 playoff losses as well.
  17. Apparently someone on Instagram called Girardi an imbecile and said he should be fired, and Chapman 'liked' the post. Good old social media.
  18. Betts is it. Devers may become one. Also Benintendi.
  19. Don Mattingly didn't officially get fired by the Dodgers, but they 'mutually agreed to part ways' after winning 3 Division titles in a row.
  20. If the Sox get swept out I think it's a real possibility. Francona was shown the door after a 90 win season and 2 titles in 8 years. We do have kind of a small window with this group, and we don't really have the resources to make big personnel changes before next year. Changing the manager is one of the few significant moves they can make.
  21. Not sure why it's necessary for Cashman to tell the world about it.
  22. Farrell should probably go back to being a pitching coach. I've defended him a lot in the second half. I think his in-game managing is generally fine. But I do seriously question his skills as a behind-the-scenes manager and motivator. The way the team has failed to show up for this series is really moving the needle to the bad side for me.
  23. I agree. DD inherited a nice farm and some very good young position players. But he also inherited a terrible pitching staff and some crippling contracts.
  24. On the topic of clutch/choke/playoff pressure... Before last night's Dodgers-D'Backs game even started, Eck was talking about how nervous D'Backs starter Walker might be...Eck said 'I'm nervous for him.' it was interesting.
