  1. Also, if you recall, just a few games after Bogaerts got hit in the hand, Farrell used him to pinch run (dubiously perhaps) and Bogaerts aggravated the injury sliding into a base.
  2. You gotta wear shades
  3. 2018 and 2019 to be precise.
  4. Like it or not, every Hall of Fame ends up as a Hall of the Very Good. It's more fun to have more inductees and more ceremonies, so the bar does get dropped a bit.
  5. Luis Tiant should be in, I think. His WAR is high enough.
  6. 1. Luis Tiant 2. Tommy John Surgery
  7. Carrasco was one of the best pitchers in baseball this year and is under control for 3 more years. He's got too much value right now to be traded for a return of JBJ.
  8. What exactly was Dombrowski supposed to do about the horrific pitching staff left to him by Ben? That is probably worthy of a thread in itself.
  9. Aren't you the same guy who started a thread called 'Debunking the 3 year window myth' back in August?
  10. Certainly no one can say you don't have a vivid imagination.
  11. Oh, I know. But the cliff is a prophecy of doom, it's like a giant black cloud you and moon continue to hang over us.
  12. Why too soon? 2016 was David Ortiz's final season. And we did, after all, succeed to the extent of winning the division the last 2 seasons.
  13. Most of us seem to think it's kind of pointless to project what the Red Sox are going to look like that far in the future. What is the purpose? What is the benefit?
  14. The system is designed more and more to make it difficult to stay on top for long. That's just the way it is. Bud Selig wanted parity because the more fans you have thinking their team has a shot at glory, the more money flows into MLB coffers.
  15. The first time in one year.
  16. I really didn't mean to imply you were stupid, sorry if it came across that way.
  17. BA alone doesn't really tell us much. Giancarlo Stanton's career BA is .268. Brock Holt's career BA is .265.
  18. That summary also predicts the Marlins will have to eat some of Stanton's contract.
  19. Fair point, but then look at Greinke opting out and profiting from it. There are still some crazy owners out there.
  20. A lot depends on what we see in salary inflation the next few years, with what Harper and Machado get.
  21. Interesting. I don't think Dave will deal Betts. I don't think he will deal Beni either. It's all just fantasy talk.
  22. The opt-out is a negative though. Especially for the Red Sox, since Stanton would probably love to play on the West Coast at some point.
  23. I'd probably trade Beni for Stanton. They play the same position. Stanton gives us that big power upgrade.
  24. You can always play those 'what if' games though right? Like if the Dodgers had traded for Verlander instead of Darvish...
  25. Thanks for reminding us of another great move by Dombrowski!
