    According to Keith Law, as per post #27 on this thread: "(The Red Sox) 2017 draft class was one of the best given where they picked, with three potential first-round talents coming in their first five picks."

    All this is quite reasonable. But the change seems to be a rather abrupt one, and if I'm one of the players I might be a little suspicious about it all. If the players as a collective get really unhappy with the situation there's going to be trouble, and everyone will lose, like we did in 1994. We'll have lots of time to debate who's right and who's wrong when another season gets cancelled.

    This offseason has gone from merely boring to agonizing. It's not just about when's JDM gonna sign anymore - it's about WTF is going on in general - I smell huge labor trouble, and I might be starting to get on the side of the players in this thing.

    If he was willing to sign a minor league deal and if he demonstrated he was healthy, it's pretty much the same use and upside as all the other dumpster dives. But you already know all that.
