DH's can't win MVP so that one's safe...

There's risk no matter what you do or don't do. If we fail to sign JD there's the risk we blew a chance to sign one of the best power hitters in baseball over the next 4-5 years.

Cobb brings plenty of risk. I'm not opposed to your proposals though. I just wish we'd freakin' do something...this offseason is really starting to drive me nutty.

Alternate ways to characterize DD's offseason to date: 1. Commendably patient and restrained. 2. Hasn't done a damn thing.

Can't really use Papi as a measuring stick. He was an anomaly - a fantastic bargain for virtually his whole career.

You don't want to outbid yourself for no reason, of course. But to wait around and wait around and then have him sign with Arizona for $100 million or whatever would kind of suck too.

Some of the chat on Arizona being interested is that they would have to move some payroll first. That sounds like this could drag on forever.

JBJ is neither underrated nor overrated. He is what his WAR says he is.

I don't even know what to say about the JDM thing anymore. I suppose we should be going 'hurray' that we're not going to overpay for him, but Arizona might be the ones who end up getting him cheaply...and we may end up not doing anything. As notin keeps pointing out, DD has not altered the roster one bit so far. This offseason is so freaking...constipated!
