  1. The Red Sox did briefly have a manager who pulled lineups out of a hat - Joe Kerrigan, who earned the nickname 'The Nutty Professor' while guiding the team to a 17-26 record at the end of the 2001 season.
  2. That's the type of thing hackers say.
  3. Aaron Boone is getting slagged again for today's loss. Looking like a doofus.
  4. It almost had to be this way.
  5. Tough weekend for the vaunted bullpen.
  6. Absolutely. Plus the hit was a shot that got to the fielder in no time flat. I really can't believe we're going to see this all over again this year.
  7. How about we leave penises out of it altogether. Yeesh.
  8. Nice hit Raffy. And what the hell with the dead on arrival send? It's a recurring nightmare.
  9. C'mon offense, let's score some runs here.
  10. Which illustrates how hard it is to keep a good team together - even when you're one of the richest teams.
  11. Jeez, let's not start comparing Price to Panda...
  12. So I guess Price belongs in the 'who will still be around in 2020' column in any cliff prognostications then.
  13. We can't judge everything based on one offseason though. Philosophies can change quickly. And right at the end of this one Alex Cobb signed a deal that was for even more than predicted, when it looked like he was going to have to settle for a small one.
  14. I am very hopeful that Boone is a doofus, and he sure looked like one yesterday, leaving poor Betances in for 40 pitches and total humiliation. I am very hopeful that Cora is going to be an excellent manager.
  15. Meanwhile Boone is getting roasted by a lot of Yankee fans for his bullpen moves yesterday. They are also questioning having Judge in CF and why Gregorius was hitting cleanup instead of Sanchez yesterday. Too funny.
  16. You have already locked up the Most Impatient Poster of the Year Award. Holt has 4 plate appearances and 2 walks so far.
  17. Baseball and golf all day, it's a beautiful thing.
  18. Here's a question: why is Tropicana Field such a hard place to score runs? Is it just the park dimensions? I wonder if it also has to do with the terrible-looking optics of the place and/or the atmospheric conditions etc.
  19. Yes, he said that too.
  20. 7.1 of the IP were covered by 2 guys, which makes it sort of a piggyback game. It's interesting if nothing else. As someone cynically pointed out, when you're a team with no chance like the Rays you can experiment.
  21. Wrong, Max. Game 1 loss-181 posts Game 2 win-210 posts (more than 181 ) Game 3 win-96 posts I've tried to explain this before, but Saturday game threads always tend to have the least traffic. But some folks just don't pay attention.
  22. It's not the wave of the future then?
