    There were runners at first and second, so the intentional walk was a questionable move. But if there was only a runner at second and everything else was the same, the intentional walk would have been a no-brainer, right?

    It wasn't an overpay compared to other contracts for top closers, though, which is what is normally used as comps for analysis purposes. Sure you can find some examples of similar production for less money, but you have to cherry-pick.

    This is a case where it seems obvious that what you say must be true, but you also need to have some stats bear it out. And they do apparently keep stats on this s***, which seems a little crazy, but not really surprising.
