    I wouldn't call Price a choker. But I think he does have some significant negative baggage in his head and that it might affect him. I think it might have affected him Sunday night. How can we really know one way or the other?

    Oh yeah, sure thing, Mr. Touchy-Feely. We all take this competition stuff too seriously, don't we? But meanwhile you're ready to rip Aaron Boone's head off because he didn't pinch-hit for Bird last night.

    Come on. If you're using 2018 tiny samples, Drury was .143 vs. lefties. And he doesn't 'kill lefties'. For his career he is .773 while Bird is .793, so Bird must really kill them. You don't have much of a case.

    In Damon's worst year with the Sox he had an fWAR of 2.4. JBJ is on pace for an fWAR of about 1.4. I believe that an 'average' fWAR for 150 games is about 2. If JBJ gets his offense going a bit he could make it to 2 or 2.5

    No, cp, I wasn't directing that post at you, wasn't even thinking of you. Your beef about JBJ is more like 'Stop telling me about how unlucky he is.' I was basically agreeing with moon about all the suggestions fans have for how JBJ can fix himself. I guess it's also just one of my things that I get a big laugh out of folks at home who think they know better than the players/coaches/management how to do things.

    Um, Severino and Scherzer, 2 Cy Young front-runners, could they possibly have had anything to do with it? Holy crap guys.

    And in 2 of those 3 starts he gave up 5 runs (in each).

    Scherzer has given up more than 2 runs in a game only once all season.

    There's something about Price that just isn't right. I think the media is completely in his head. This week he was making sarcastic comments to reporters about whether he was even going to pitch last night, referring back to the tingles game. Then he goes out and throws batting practice. I'll be hoping for the best when he starts his next playoff game for us, needless to say. But I'll be nervous and just a little skeptical too.

    The statistics show that the #3 hitter comes up with 2 outs and nobody on base more than any other position. That's the whole issue with it. You have to figure that most of this occurs in the first inning. What other possible explanation could there be? Especially when you've got your 2 highest OBP guys up first and second. Kimmi has said numerous times that the batting order doesn't mean that much and that the statistical stuff should probably be outweighed by putting guys where they're comfortable. Although she seems to making a bit of a big deal about JDF batting third.

    Oh sure. I was just responding to the statement that it's rare to have an everyday player under .200 at this point. MLB batting averages are down in general. The average average this year is .246.

    The Yankees' Sanchez was also under the Mendoza line before his injury. It's probably a little more common than you realize.

    Of course you would, even though Reed has a 6.10 ERA in the postseason, because you have s*** for brains.

    He's made some bonehead plays on the base paths, no doubt about that. But 15 steals in 16 attempts is pretty impressive.
