  1. He was both, I'd say - kind of a complicated guy.
  2. You beat me to it LOL. What a bunch of smartasses we are.
  3. Daniel Poncedeleon is working on a no-hitter for the Cards.
  4. Britton isn't THAT much of a question mark. He came back from a long injury layoff obviously, but he's pitched very well lately. It's up to the scouts to see if his velocity and movement are there etc.
  5. But if all goes well he might also pitch 10 critical innings in the postseason. That's where the value really is. Not that I am stuck on Britton by any means, but another good late-inning guy would be nice to have.
  6. Was it the middle relief or the game planning of throwing more first-pitch strikes? Our offense was excellent in 2016. I don't think middle relief suddenly got better in 2017.
  7. Most catchers can't hit. The average OPS for a catcher this year is .678. Leon's .636 OPS is not bad for a backup catcher.
  8. Maybe Vazquez doesn't come back till September?
  9. A one-hour documentary on Williams debuts tonight on PBS at 9 PM Eastern. From Chad Finn's piece on it, it sounds great. Set your PVR's!
  10. Britton seems like a good gamble considering his history. Which means multiple teams are in on him.
  11. I think there are more options than dumping all over everything or being a sophomore cheerleader. I think there's some middle ground in between there.
  12. You are really not a Thornburg fan LOL I'm a little surprised to see you give up on a player so quick.
  13. This year 2124 Last year 2311 Diff -187 8.1%
  14. Like I said it was sloppy phrasing. We won a World Series while he was GM. That's all I meant. I thought that should be obvious.
  15. Yeah sure, let's just throw the stats out the window. What do numbers mean in baseball?
  16. Barnes is having a fine season, with a 2.30 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Workman has been outstanding. Fans have unrealistic expectations.
  17. Gibson has Parkinson's Disease.
  18. Jeez, thanks for the correction, cp. I apologize for my sloppy phrasing.
  19. I've been checking out a Yankee fan forum (always fun at times like this), and Boone is really taking a pounding.
  20. For me it's got nothing to do with Lowrie. It's got to do with bad results for Melancon. I can agree that it seemed like a good trade on paper, but the results stunk for one reason or other. Ben may have given up on Melancon too quickly as well.
  21. That's true. You have to credit Hembree and Barnes with getting 5 outs as well.
  22. If he stays healthy, there's a good chance he can do what you said from here until 2022. He's got the ability and the experience.
  23. I get it, up to a point. He did win a World Series after all. And he built up a good farm. I have already voiced my criticisms of him plenty of times.
  24. With ERA, I think it would be fair to throw out the worst 2 games, but you probably also have to throw out the 2 best if you're going to do that. Oddly enough both Porcello and Lester were charged with 8 runs in their most recent game. Each saw their ERA go up about 55 points.
