  1. This is pretty much my position too.
  2. His name shouldn't even come up in connection with the Red Sox.
  3. Johnson threw 84 pitches, which is tied for the most he's thrown all year. They don't want to overextend him. If he keeps pitching this well they'll probably increase his pitch count.
  4. Yeah, I just don't get why some people are so anxious to crucify the manager. But then again when I first started posting on a Sox message board in 2007 the thing I didn't get was how many people were crushing Francona. And that was in a season in which the Sox won their second ring in four years under him.
  5. Thanks Youk, for continuing to be a voice of reason.
  6. This is just going to start up the same old cycle, but the fact that the farm system is toast is on Ben too IMO. He left Dombrowski with a well-stocked farm but virtually zero pitching. DD probably overdid it with what he gave up for pitching but I'd like to know how he could have magically conjured up a good pitching staff without making a bunch of trades.
  7. To me that little contingency is kind of dwarfed by the impact of them getting one of the best starters in the game for the next 2.35 seasons.
  8. The Yanks needed a starter regardless.
  9. You really are a long-viewer if you would have preferred they get deGrom.
  10. The jury is still out on both of these signings IMHO
  11. But who would want to?
  12. If the Yankees are done after this I think it would be quite acceptable for us...not sure they're done though.
  13. You might be speaking a bit too soon on that. Cashman will be adding a starter. As for Britton, I think the Yankees are concerned about Chapman's health.
  14. It is kind of sick IMO, as are many of the elective surgeries you're referencing IMO.
  15. Possibly, but it was Kimbrel who gave it up in the 4th game.
  16. Just to be clear, Pedroia turns 35 on August 17.
  17. I'm just gonna take a stab here without looking it up. I think the only games that get resumed are ones that have gone 5 innings and are tied-or the visiting team has gone ahead in their half of the inning when the game is stopped.
  18. I think the big wide bulky body is largely responsible. And there's not much he can do about it, it's just his body type.
  19. It really does seem like a royal pooch-screwing considering the forecast.
  20. Well now we've got some pretty divergent opinions on whose fault the injury was. I just watched the replay a few times. One thing I notice is that Swihart was about 3/4 of the way between first and second by the team he releases the ball, making it a tough play for everyone. The throw was definitely behind E-Rod, causing him to turn and slow down. The third is that the Jays runner slides through the base and to the right and is laid out there with his legs sticking up behind him, forcing E-Rod to make a pretty long jump to clear him. He almost made it but not quite.
  21. Even if the wild card team has the second-best record. Yeah, this new system is so much fairer.
  22. That's easier said than done. People have tickets that say 7 PM and they might not be able to get to the park earlier.
