  1. The term 'walk-off win' is lame to begin with, since the way it's used is completely bass-ackwards of its original meaning. Eck coined the term and used it to describe the losing pitcher sadly walking off the mound. See, the losing team walks off, while the winning team goes nuts... But now it's called a 'walk-off win'. Oh well, most people aren't very bright, what do you expect...
  2. I've always liked Kinsler.
  3. He's still relatively young though. Maybe he just needs some help with his focus or whatever the issue is.
  4. Can't disagree with any of that.
  5. Get that Lance Lynn thread up!
  6. Except Kimmi doesn't say 'other than a closer'. She thinks any relief pitcher making more than MLB minimum is overpaid.
  7. I had the same ugly thought last night. The Evil Elf is capable of just about anything between now and tomorrow-anything he can talk Hal into paying for.
  8. Just for the Talksox record, the posts by Splinter and Slasher were the ones I was referring to with the 'crucify' comment.
  9. Cot's has us at $235,521 for tax purposes. (There are 2 pages here, one actual and one tax. See tabs at top.)
  10. Hey, I like Swihart too and wish him only success. But he is vastly easier to replace than Mookie Betts.
  11. Oh sure, Mookie might be able to handle a switch to second. But that's only a small part of it. You're talking about making radical changes with 2 MVP candidates when the team is playing .700 ball. You're talking about downgrading the outfield defense, increasing the chances of JDM getting injured, and probably increasing the chances of Mookie getting injured as well. That's out of the box thinking gone too far.
  12. If you keep making mad dashes across the interstate your chances of becoming roadkill are pretty good too.
  13. Swihart playing a few games at 3B is considerably less crazy than moving Mookie to 2B and JD to everyday OF.
  14. Nice debut indeed.
  15. His stats are pretty good, that's all. No one is saying he's the second coming of prime Koji. But he doesn't deserve the abuse he takes either.
  16. Here's a stat nugget you might find interesting, Larry: Rays pitchers home ERA 2.95 Rays pitchers road ERA 4.66 !!!!! Red Sox pitchers home ERA 3.76 Red Sox pitchers road ERA 3.34 !!!!! So are Rays pitchers actually good or are their numbers simply distorted from pitching in the most run-suppressing park in baseball half the time? Worth looking into!
  17. Should have signed Addison Reed for 16.75 million!!! Priceless!!!
  18. Last 25 games - .929 OPS and 23 RBI
  19. Beeks had a horrific debut for the Rays.
  20. He's sort of an easy target, I guess, because of the hair, the perceived attitude issues, and the failures of his teams to get past the LDS. Plus he's hitting .219 in his contract year.
  21. The next team that gets Harper should hire Papelbon as Bryce's personal motivational coach.
  22. Yeah, goddamn the little leprechaun and his 32 saves out of 35 chances. Can't wait till next year when he's gone and we have a new closer to crap on every time they fail!
  23. I suspected Moreland was not 100%.
  24. Excellent analysis Flap.
