  1. OK, well, if somebody really wanted to try to make a case for protection this might be a good example to look at. The theory is that if you're protected you should be getting better pitches to hit - more fastballs and closer to the middle of the plate, I assume. If someone had the pitch data they could tell us if JBJ is getting better pitches or not.
  2. Yes, we need Sale, Price and ERod to be our iron troika. I'm not counting Porcello out either. Inconsistent but when he's on he's really on.
  3. I deleted that post because it wasn't quite accurate. JBJ wasn't moved down to the 9 spot till May. But the point probably stands. His numbers have improved because his swing has improved.
  4. Yes he has, Station. He had hits in the rallies in all 3 consecutive come-from-behind wins against the Marlins and White Sox you might remember from just a few games ago. And he's been with the team less than 20 games. Yeesh!
  5. Yeah, Better Call Saul is great. Just so well written and well acted. And it was a brilliant choice to have Mike as one of the lead characters.
  6. Kimbrel 1.04 Kelly 1.26 Barnes 1.23 Hembree 1.42 Workman 1.09 Brasier 0.73 For a Know-it-All Troll, you sure are badly informed.
  7. These numbers are all before his big night tonight: Total career numbers 2415 PA 237/316/404 - 720 OPS Hitting 9th 1049 PA 255/329/437 - 766 OPS His best spot has actually been 6th, with an 820 OPS in 399 PA. Other than that, 9th is easily his best.
  8. A bit more to the point, over his last 53 games JBJ is hitting 290/347/512 for an 860 OPS, with 7 HR, 16 2B, 2 3B and 37 RBI.
  9. You generally do need some luck and unexpected stuff to go your way to win it all. Just for one example, in 2004 Derek Lowe was a playoff hero after a horrible season with a 5.42 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP.
  10. Pom as a reliever: 15.1 IP 255/349/364 = 713 OPS 310 BABip His numbers are mediocre but not awful. Too many walks but not a lot of extra base hits. He can pitch multiple innings up to 4 or 5. The carrot at the end of the stick is that he might still be working back to full strength from his injury. Nothing to get excited about but no reason to write him off yet either.
  11. 5 walks per 8th 9th innings, huh? And what exactly is the point of your random list of pitchers? You're an ignorant twit, as well as a pussy for being afraid to say you're a Yankee fan.
  12. Hopefully Donaldson heals and gets back to his old form. He's a heck of a player when he's right.
  13. We'll see man. Joel Sherman had a pretty good column the other day about how 2018 should be scaring teams away from big money for relievers. Wade Davis and some of the others who got paid have struggled and Chapman and Jansen have concerning health issues. And Kimbrel, let's face it, has had some concerning performance issues this year.
  14. Final 11 wins, STORKSHIT. The first round is 3 of 5.
  15. Stop trying to be fair LOL
  16. I think the recency effect can come into play sometimes. When you look at what Johnny Cueto got compared to Price, it looks like some GM's were concerned about Cueto's poor numbers with KC in 2015.
  17. Have you checked out the new rules for compensation picks though? It looks like in some cases they're much less valuable than they used to be.
  18. That .482 OBP boggles the mind.
  19. Those old Padres uniforms took the approach that if you're gonna go ugly, there's no sense in going halfway.
  20. Now that's just mean. Guy had a pretty good career for the most part.
  21. Well, Ty did string together 5 or 6 scoreless innings!
  22. Kinsler and Pedroia are very similar, although I suppose the girls find Kinsler better-looking...
  23. You are full of tricky questions, sir.
