  1. My gut tells me the better matchup for us is the Yankees. The A's have that scrappy underdog thing going, and that kind of team can be trouble.
  2. As a matter of fact, A.J. Cole and Tommy Kahnle just turned a 2 run lead into a 2 run deficit just like that.
  3. The fact is, he's pitched great this year. In 50 innings he's given up 15 runs, all earned. 10 of them were in his 3.1 disaster stint, which was also just before he went on the DL. In his other 46.2 innings he's given up all of 5 runs. You're envisioning bad things for him because you're a Yankee fan. I do the same with all the Yankee relievers...
  4. Right, but weeks ago this looked like it might be an important game. I just don't know how short of a notice they can give to ticketholders.
  5. How close to the actual game can they reschedule it?
  6. There are no other games scheduled for tonight.
  7. moon, you said '2-4 innings 2-3 times' on the previous page on this thread.
  8. In addition, it's one of the positions we're not spending piles and piles of money on, and you need some of those.
  9. If the idiots didn't trade him that might not be the case.
  10. So what does that mean, being able to hit well as a pinch hitter, and the implied not being able to hit well as a pinch hitter?
  11. Hey, is key pinch hitting a repeatable skill?
  12. And another, Lynn, who was MVP in 1975 and 4th in MVP voting in 1979. Star-wise, there's no topping that team.
  13. What kind of epic fashion, Nostredamus? Cora isn't going to leave him in there all day like he might if it was a regular season game.
  14. That seems OK. Your original statement of 2-4 innings 2-3 times included a scenario of using him for 4 innings 3 times.
  15. 105-50 record with what you say is a bad bullpen, and yet you keep ragging on Cora.
  16. Last night Moreland had a hit and 2 walks while Pearce was 0 for 2. I think that makes Moreland the hot hand now.
  17. I saw it. Never forget it. Piniella's play was actually in the 9th, but you're right that it prevented the Sox from scoring the tying run.
  18. Seems like a pretty solid plan if it's the Yanks.
  19. Yeah, you're right. We're in an age where $50 million is chump change for a .240 hitting, superior outfielder.
  20. It would probably take something like $12M or $12.5 x 4 to get him interested.
  21. notin is correct. Dent had the game-winning RBI, the way game winning RBI was defined during its short period of usage as an 'official stat'. The principle was identical to the way winning pitcher is defined (outside of the 5 inning requirement for starters). The game winning RBI was the one that drove in the run that put you ahead to stay. Bob Stanley gave up Reggie's HR. Giving poor old Bob a direct contribution to 2 of the most devastating losses in franchise history!
  22. So what should DD try to sign him for?
  23. You two are the champs.
  24. Freaking Donaldson. I read that the Sox, Yankees and Astros all questioned MLB about how that trade went through when Donaldson was allegedly still injured.
  25. Are you kidding? That'd be the dream for tons of Red Sox fans, to have someone pitch batting practice to you and to hit balls toward the Monster and see how you do.
