  1. I'm sure there will be plenty of debates.
  2. Yeah, Johnson has only been used 4 times in September. He's not in the plans.
  3. LOL How did you dig that up?
  4. It's conceivable there might be a market correction with relievers this offseason. It happened to big-ticket DH types the last 2 years with Encarnacion and JDM.
  5. You really went for COLD there.
  6. Maybe, but there's no way he's 100%. Hopefully he's 90%, at least.
  7. Although some players with agents have taken alleged discounts over the years. Pedroia has an agent, for example. The fact that you would rather have someone represent you than negotiate yourself doesn't necessarily mean you're after every last dollar. Which is not to say Kimbrel won't be going after every last dollar when the time comes.
  8. With regard to Sale, I think any ideas that he was being phantom DL'd simply to reduce his innings have been put to rest.
  9. That's a pretty good point too.
  10. I see both sides. I agree with those who say a good closer is important. I agree with those who say $100 mill is too much for CK. The real question, more than likely, is how DD is going to replace him.
  11. I understand your position. Personally I think Devers is a bit more likely to win a game for us with his bat than he is to lose one with his fielding, especially if you have a late inning replacement lined up. But that could be wishful thinking on my part, admittedly.
  12. Why not just have a late inning defensive replacement lined up for him?
  13. Pretty well said jackso.
  14. Well, you probably don't have to worry about seeing him back next year.
  15. Jimmy Yacabonis
  16. Are you talking about negative game thread comments or the arguments about not re-signing him?
  17. Try to contain your excitement.
  18. He might have just lost his focus in such a meaningless game.
  19. I'm not bypassing IP. It's a given that starters pitch about 3 times as many innings as relievers. The question is how much do the other factors make up the difference in innings. Maybe the WAR numbers are the only way to compare. Then again, bWAR loves Kimbrel more than fWAR does. fWAR loves Porcello more than bWAR does.
  20. Xander the Great.
  21. fWAR Porcello 2.7 Kimbrel 1.6 bWAR Porcello 2.9 * Kimbrel 2.8 *Includes 0.2 offensive WAR
  22. You totally bypassed the point about the quality of the innings (Kimbrel having an ERA that's twice as good.) Also worth noting is that 'high leverage' probably should be broken down even further if you want to do a really accurate analysis. Within 'high leverage' would be PA's that are higher leverage than others.
  23. Leverage breakdown by PA: Porcello H 130 M 360 L 311 Kimbrel H 136 M 43 L 60 Kimbrel actually has more high leverage PA's. Another factor is that Kimbrel's ERA is about half of Porcello's, and has been over their careers. I do agree that Kimbrel would be overpaid at $20M, I'm just not sure by how much.
  24. I thought you subscribed to the idea that Rivera was a big difference-maker for those Yankee teams.
  25. We might have won the division without Bogaerts, or Bradley...in fact we might have won without either of them! No need to worry about keeping those guys around. This is quite a relief actually...
