    Personally I think using replay on safe and out calls is a very good thing. Sure it slows things up a bit but there have been a TON of calls reversed. That means a lot of wrong made right.

    You're talking about offense only. Their pitching had vast improvements, and as a result their run differential was higher than 2017, from +196 to +263.

    But you're comparing an 8 year stint against a 1 year stint that isn't even complete yet. Tito's one true off year was his 8th year.

    Nope. It's 100% wrong to say that 'all the numbers' suggest this is a bad move. Price has pitched very well against this Houston team. Reg season 2018 2 starts 12.1 IP 3.65 ERA .81 WHIP 2017 7.2 IP 3.52 ERA 2016 6.2 IP 1.35 ERA Postseason 2017 6.2 IP 0.00 ERA The 2018 numbers include a start Sept 7 in Fenway where he went 6.2 giving up 2 runs, 2 hits, 2 walks, 10 K's. Terrible reporting by this writer not to make any mention of his numbers against Houston.

    It's somewhat comical how passionate some of these discussions get. Here's the thing...on this thread you have a relatively small group of fans, with very divided opinions on what moves Cora should have made or not made. If you took a poll on specific calls you might get a 55-45 split or something. Cora can't make 55-45 decisions. He has to make the call one way or the other and live with it.

    At the very minimum he should have pulled him after Kinsler's hit. He's got all his best relievers lined up including ones that can go 2 innings.

    Sale faced the 8-9-1 hitters in the 8th. The 2-3-4 hitters, heart of the order, were due up in the 9th. I think it was a solid plan. Kimbrel just didn't have it. Sale, like Kimbrel, is a great pitcher, but he's human too. In last year's ALDS he gave up 9 runs in 9.2 IP, including 4 long balls.

    I believe the thinking is that Kimbrel is simply a far better pitcher than Joe Kelly, even when he's off. And if you bring Kelly in, it's going to be into a mess where his chances of succeeding are not great. I guarantee Cora's stomach was churning. It's a situation no manager wants to get in, but it's going to happen sometimes.

    The reason Porcello was replaced with Barnes in the 6th was because the Yankees muscle was due up and it was their third look at Porcello.

    Smith would seem to be worth a shot at $1.2 million, assuming he's healed.
