  1. Plus we wasted a couple of scoring opportunities late in that game as I recall.
  2. Buck made some great calls and great comments that offseason. That was one of them.
  3. Pom is making 8.5 mill this year.
  4. And he's slagging Nolan Ryan-for his W-L record. That says it all. This guy is a Neanderthal.
  5. For one thing, this guy is totally hung up on batting average. I'm not saying you have to use really advanced metrics, but OPS has pretty much replaced batting average.
  6. That's not really the issue. I get pissed off if I see players from other teams get unfairly slagged too. I'm not saying it's not a good topic. I'm just dubious about the guy that made up this particular list when I see some of the selections.
  7. I think the PED penalties are harsh enough. The question is how effective the detection is.
  8. You are misreading it. notin proposed using Wright as a mopup guy if the Sox fall way behind and Max disagreed with that.
  9. Or the owner.
  10. Yes, the payroll for luxury tax purposes.
  11. Looks like a really bad list to me, meant mainly to 'stir up controversy' i.e. piss people off.
  12. Nicely picked!
  13. Fiers had a pretty good season though.
  14. Anybody who puts up a picture like that shouldn't have any issues about fantasizing LOL
  15. Gotta watch out for them Straw Men.
  16. Sounds simple enough. But if Castillo doesn't cut it, it would be a costly mess because of the tax.
  17. Care to elaborate?
  18. No. But it's a case of 'well, they have to go somewhere.' I'm just messing around with this thing, I really don't care. But these wild card games fall into a kind of never-never land between the regular season and the LDS. They certainly have a lot more in common with the Bucky Dent game than they do with the playoffs that start tonight.
  19. This is gonna be some heavy duty s***, whichever way it goes. Sox fans will either be exultant or (many of them will be) calling for Dombrowski to be fired.
  20. One of the best defensive outfields the Red Sox ever deployed was one we didn't see much of, because it was only used in the 2007 playoffs at the end of games, I think: CF Crisp LF Ellsbury RF Drew
  21. The bottom line is, the 1970's management were pooch screwers extraordinaire.
  22. Boomer had a good season in 1977. After that he was pretty much toast. Not a very good deal, on balance.
  23. There's a pretty good chance the A's would have started Manaea if he wasn't lost to injury.
  24. Cecil Cooper did OK after we traded him too.
