  1. Trade him for who then?
  2. I don't think you can 'de-mystify' the 9th. Pitching the 9th with a 1-run or even a 2-run lead is always going to be stressful. Certainly a lot has been said, and even a little has been done, about using the best reliever in the truly critical situation, which can often occur before the 9th.
  3. That all may be so. Let me say this. However Alex Cora deploys his relievers is probably about as good as you can do it. He's a good manager, I think, and he's got all the information at his disposal.
  4. I don't know, other than Price he's our only starting pitcher with any significant years of control.
  5. The Yankees weren't favored.
  6. Don't forget the Red Sox tried the 'closer by committee' thing in 2003. And that offseason Theo signed Keith Foulke...
  7. I'll be impressed if you don't.
  8. Gonna be fun when you guys sign him.
  9. All I really know is he hasn't pitched since September 30. That's a seriously long layoff.
  10. That's a swing and a miss, Skippy.
  11. I remember your WAFL (Wins Above Felipe Lopez). Yes, it's kind of sick the things I remember.
  12. No, I wasn't questioning any of that. I'm mainly talking about the 27 pitches part. I think Hinch should have at least removed him after he hit Moreland.
  13. They might even get a bit of a punk discount on him now.
  14. Yeah, it doesn't look good on them, that's for sure. It's a real head-scratcher why, if they were going to cheat, they would choose a method so easy to detect.
  15. Easy to second-guess, but I don't think it was a great move by Hinch leaving Osuna in for 27 pitches.
  16. It seems to be getting some coverage. The details are pretty weird. Not exactly high-tech snooping, more like some guy hanging around the dugouts with a cell phone.
  17. Maybe just a different place to talk about the game. The bitching on the actual game threads has been ridiculous this year. Enough to make a lot of people avoid them.
  18. Machado added to his punk reputation yet again last night. Unbelievable.
  19. I'm not sure who wanted Fister back or why. The guy pitched a few good games last year but in general he was an end-of-the-line junkballer and his overall numbers were not very good.
  20. ********. There were others who stayed sensible too.
  21. The home runs by Pearce and JBJ were LOUD.
  22. Great news to hear your whole coaching staff is returning.
  23. You have to like him. He pitched well for us in the regular season too, aside from a couple of rough outings.
  24. Pearce has proven to be a fantastic acquisition. As has Eovaldi - that might actually be an understatement - he's come up huge. He must be on Cloud 9 right now.
  25. iortiz, I think I'm feeling the presence of those Aztec Gods!
