  1. Another one of the good guys. Seriously, every Sox fan owes a bit of a debt to that umpiring crew IMHO
  2. The Human Rain Delay!
  3. Nice double.
  4. You're not familiar with the D/M format?
  5. 30 years? Jesus. You must be a youngster.
  6. It's absolutely nothing compared to the roasting Boone has been taking from Yankee fans, I'll say that.
  7. It's a lot of playoff games, that's the good part.
  8. I hope he does great tonight with Kate, not so much tomorrow.
  9. Maybe unfair is not the right word. I think there are limitations already in place, the ones I mentioned in my other comments. So managers already have to be a bit careful how many changes they make. It's annoying as heck watching the manager march out there time after time, no question. But it's part of how the game is played now. I don't think we should be making any intrinsic changes to the rules here. There are other 'bigger fish to fry', perhaps.
  10. I thought you said it was 'not even close'.
  11. Not enough metaphorical references to body parts here.
  12. Good. Gotta be flexible on this one...
  13. Oh sure. As long as I can have Rick Ankiel...
  14. I think it's possible that the umps are doing the best they can. Some of these calls are incredibly hard to make with the naked eye. On the force play, you have to be able to see two things at once-the ball hitting the glove and the foot hitting the bag. And both are moving pretty fast. I'm not sure it's humanly possible, frankly.
  15. I'm not sure any such changes would be fair. All I can say is that maybe we should count our blessings that: a) teams are generally confined to 7 relief pitchers because of roster rules; baseball is the only game where when you remove a player from the game they are gone forevermore. I think Kevin Cash in a game this year, instead of removing one of his relievers, moved them to the field in case they were needed again. I've thought of that little move before myself. It could be quite entertaining if the ball 'finds the guy who just came in' as the old adage goes.
  16. And he played for Francona for several years, I'm sure that was a positive learning experience for him.
  17. Verlander-Sale, that's pretty much a 'historic' level matchup.
  18. Personally I think using replay on safe and out calls is a very good thing. Sure it slows things up a bit but there have been a TON of calls reversed. That means a lot of wrong made right.
  19. Rollie Fingers Brad Hand Elroy Face
  20. Joe West was part of the crew in Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS, so I can't bad-mouth him.
  21. Also, if the reports are accurate, Epstein met with Grady before the game and tried to convince him that he needed to get Pedro out of there at 100-105 pitches no matter what.
  22. He also had a golden opportunity to pinch hit for Buckner with the bases loaded against lefty Orosco and Don Baylor available.
  23. You're talking about offense only. Their pitching had vast improvements, and as a result their run differential was higher than 2017, from +196 to +263.
  24. I think it's fair as long as you acknowledge that your own calls are questionable (as are mine).
