  1. 4 WS appearances and 2 titles in the last 8 years seems pretty good to me. But I'm sure they want to do better. It certainly seems like they're trying.
  2. Jansen was 56/64 in save opportunities for us. That's 87.5%. I'd say the gold standard is 90%, but that's pretty hard to do. Rivera's career % was 91.3.
  3. You're right, he's a poor defender. But he's never had an fWAR lower than 2.0 for a full season. His average is 3-4 fWAR. If we're looking at him as a Dodger weakness, we must be pretty desperate.
  4. 73.7%. That's not good at all.
  5. "Maybe they're just cheap." Sorry but I am gonna default to that sometimes. Recency Effect is pretty big with relievers, no doubt.
  6. The Dodgers have been in the playoffs 12 years in a row and in 4 of the last 8 World Series. What they're doing is working. And they're set up for plenty more years.
  7. FanGraphs shows Muncy with a 2024 dRAR of +1.3. Their worst defensive guys by far were Teoscar (-14.8) and Freeman (-9.0).
  8. Big additions: Chapman, Hendricks, Whitlock Big subtractions: Jansen, Martin Still not comfortable with the back end options. Hendricks has health/layoff/age questions. They need to sign Scott or Yates or Estevez. They have the money. There's no excuse for not doing it.
  9. Further to that longer leash thing, there are 2 ways to look at it: -The cynic says the money guy gets it because the team doesn't want to admit they wasted the money... -The idealist says the money guy gets it because the team wouldn't have paid him all that money if they didn't think highly of him...
  10. It's never exactly like that, I don't think, but the guy you're paying a lot of money is usually going to get a longer leash...
  11. Hopefully we can get some controversy out of this at least. 😛
  12. Sox owners must be thrilled that the balance of power is shifting so much to the NL.
  13. Getting non tendered by the Giants must have been surprising indeed. Turns out it was a clerical error, they had him mixed up with Pablo. 😉 Actually I had to look it up myself to confirm that Patrick's entire career has been with the Angels.
  14. Dodgers won't win the Series every year because of randomness and such. But it'll probably be a long time before they miss the playoffs again.
  15. I know, I meant "should be, and eventually will be, a DH".
  16. Depends on a lot of things, right? If even one of Anthony or Campbell make the leap in 2025 that will be exciting and a big boost. But it's X factor. You won't see it in any of the projections. As I keep saying, I'm worried about Devers's shoulders, and I'm not all that cozy about Casas's ribs either. I can see Story staying healthy and playing great D, but I'm less optimistic about him squaring up more baseballs. The reality is he has a .693 OPS in a Red Sox uniform.
  17. They haven't added any guys we actually wanted them to add (other than Whitlock). Assembling a conglomeration of bodies might help with injuries, but won't necessarily nail more games down.
  18. The FanGraphs boys may be off the mark, but when any projection system rates your position players 14th out of 15th, it's not great.
  19. That still looks like a net minus for the offense. We haven't even talked much about Rafaela, the guy who has a K/BB rate that has never been sustained.
  20. Breslow has done some potentially very good work with the rotation. Not complaining about his activity there. That's not the issue. They have to make a couple more moves to call this is a good offseason. They need a bat and a good reliever at the least.
  21. If Kennedy was being honest he'd admit that they're treating the first tax level as a ceiling. They're probably holding some back for possible extensions-which is fine, but still, I don't get why there still needs to be a "no tax" order in place for the third year in a row.
  22. I know. I'm just feeling skeptical, maybe because of other recent offseasons where we waited for something good to happen that never did.
  23. I'm OK with our pitching depth. I'm complaining about our offense's depth. A lot of key guys that had injuries last year. Our best hitter with major shoulder pain that is supposed to magically stop. Our DH apparently not a go for opening day. One of our only home run threats gone. Like I say, go Roman, go Kristian.
  24. But his point is not in the Red Sox favor. We don't have depth, so injuries to key players are even more damaging.
  25. While the Red Sox have been running out of steam every year.
