  1. I think Alex Cora would collapse in a pool of tears if they take the Refsnyder Lefty-Masher Option away from him.
  2. Fragile Freddy. Fans have zero sympathy for guys who get hurt by playing hard. But they also hate loafers.
  3. I assume swinging harder can also translate to higher exit velocity. Think Raffy's legendary HR off Chapman. Raffy swings very hard and he had shoulder issues last year. I'm thinking of him too, not just Casas.
  4. Personally I'm not a big fan of opt-outs. They kind of hang over the contract almost from the get-go.
  5. I think he meant 3 years from the start of the extension.
  6. Weirdly enough, it seems to be baseball of all the major sports that has seen a rise in injury rates, as some guys continue to throw the ball harder and others try to hit it harder...
  7. And the Sox exercised his 2025 option at a little over $2 million. He's definitely in the plans.
  8. Looks like Fried's contract has no opt-out, just a no-trade clause.
  9. Opt-out mania! It'd be interesting to see many long-term deals now have NO opt-out.
  10. I do think Campbell has a shot at opening day 2B if he impresses bigly in spring opportunities.
  11. Especially since they seem very busy trying to work out a trade for him.
  12. They have to get a deal done and I'm pretty sure they will. It's mandatory after what they've invested in him and their need for a TOTR fixture.
  13. Right. I could be wrong here but I think Ohtani is the one who really made it clear he only wanted to play on the West Coast when he chose the Halos.
  14. Out of Casas, Grissom and Story, the only one that's had his 25th birthday is Story, so I don't think age is a factor here. Casas - his injury is of a type that makes us all nervous, no question. May have to do with why they seem to be actively shopping him. Grissom - Mr. X - the odds don't seem great he's a long-term Red Sox player, but they have to give him a shot. Story - have to give him his shot too. Sale-esque situation. I don't think the Sox are really counting on any of these 3 as locks to be healthy and productive.
  15. Everyone would prefer Bregman as a player. I think the Sox would only be interested in Arenado if St. Louis is paying a lot of it. And of course the rumors are that Casas would be going in the deal, which means the Sox would be looking for another significant piece...and Devers would move to !B... And it's all just rumors.
  16. The West Coast Preference legend probably started when Ohtani chose the Angels. And then last year of course Ohtani and Yamamoto both chose the Dodgers. There's some credence to the geographical proximity part of it. But like you say, Japanese players sign with other teams too. Maybe it's just that Ohtani and Yamamoto get so much of the attention.
  17. Rich ownership though. Paid tax for 2021, 2022 and 2023.
  18. Not being snarky, but does anyone know who the other teams are?
  19. It's no secret that Japanese players prefer the West Coast. But you can see who the other 4 teams are. The Sox have lost some prestige and credibility as one of the high power teams, it's just the way it is.
  20. Padres, sure. But it's going to be one of the 7 teams he picked to meet with. Angels and Mariners are not among them.
  21. He may have said that, but the list of 7 teams he's meeting with kind of says otherwise.
