  1. There's nowhere to go but up.
  2. Devers is looking better at the plate. I highly doubt he gets traded. He might be playing first next year though.
  3. His statement is perhaps a little too general, but it has a lot of truth in it. The people who want JBJ gone don't give a damn what his WAR is.
  4. The word 'hate' is mostly just being used in the sports fan sense here. We're just talking about the people who keep heaping abuse on JBJ for his play and calling for him to be traded or released-to be not seen in a Red Sox uniform anymore.
  5. As Yogi said, when you come to the fork in the road, take it.
  6. The guy has played a great centerfield for about 5 years. He's going bad right now but I think he deserves a little more respect than that.
  7. ST doesn't really explain the offensive woes, I don't think. Let's not use it as a handy catch-all reason for everything bad that happens this year. JBJ had a great spring.
  8. There is that contagious thing with hitting sometimes.
  9. If he keeps hitting like this I think they will find a way not to send him down.
  10. But can he hit? It's yet to be proven.
  11. Thanks for the laughs.
  12. Nonsense man. Look up Paul Blair.
  13. LOL This could be ugly alright. Reverse lock please!
  14. Newton's Third Law of Physics: "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."
  15. Now I think Henry would be partially involved in the decision too. And there would be some numbers cranked out by the analytics people.
  16. Percentages are so comforting. The fact is it's a simple binary proposition, we either make it or we don't. The brave man or woman will just say yes or no.
  17. I'll say this, the discussions the front office had about the bullpen must have been interesting. I wonder if they decided from the very outset of the offseason that they weren't going to spend a nickel on it.
  18. Yankees are doing a job considering all the injuries. May it not continue.
  19. It seems to me that was actually a pretty good major league baseball game yesterday. Sucks that we lost, needless to say. But the Rays have excellent pitching and so you are going to lose some 2-1 games to them.
  20. It's a ridiculous notion. I'm strongly tempted to bump the Pearce signing thread to remind people how positive the reaction was at the time.
  21. Who also hits righties decently.
  22. As I said a few posts ago, it's still early for our bullpen too. There's really nothing more to say on this until later in the year.
  23. It was the same thing in 2018. Most of the high-priced free agent relievers signed before 2018 sucked. Why would you want to play a lottery with such lousy odds? If there is something DD can be criticized before, it's not doing enough dumpster diving. I'll go along with that.
  24. I don't buy this. If we were rewarding ever player who had a great postseason we would have re-signed Kelly too. People loved the Pearce signing when it was announced and thought he would get more.
  25. It's still early for our bullpen too. So we're nowhere on this.
