    What's funny about that statement by Nick is that we have a solid zero number of chicks on this site who dig the long ball. We're zero for one LOL So there's no chance of corroboration whatsoever.

    If you were Pedroia, or any sane individual, would you agree to defer money you were due to receive over the next 2 years until the year 2048 or so? You're really asking a lot of the guy in order to save his owner a bit of tax.

    No observers, there would only be the numbers to work with. I can only surmise that it was based on fielding chances and comparisons to league averages.

    We shall see. I watched last night's game and Bryce whiffed 3 times. He's leading the majors in whiffs, striking out at a much higher rate than normal. I can almost smell disaster there. This year will really show us a lot about his character and his abilities.

    It would be obvious if they pay him 12-13 million a year. The thing is, it would require a wink-wink nudge-nudge backroom deal between Pedey and the team. Sort of like the wink-wink nudge-nudge deal that got us the sanctions on the international signings, only worse. Even trying it would make the team a laughingstock. You can just imagine the fun the media (especially New York Post and that sort of media) would have with it.

    I already dug it out of the CBA some weeks back. There's a general clause that prohibits teams and players from any transaction that would deliberately attempt to circumvent the tax. moon's scheme would be the textbook definition of that.

    They're only paying Brewer minimum wage of course, so he's basically a non-entity.
