  1. You're not supposed to add together the fWAR of -0.9 and the bWAR of -1.0. Averaging them would be OK.
  2. Well, the 2019 Red Sox are a pretty good test case for you. You could keep track of how many games we've lost because of this new-fangled bullpen strategy. I can't recall any glaring examples so far myself.
  3. Are you quite sure there are more blown saves in 2019 than in previous years?
  4. Methinks he is fully enlightened now.
  5. Is it time yet for a little Marco Fever?
  6. The Red Sox and Yankees have 17 more games with each other this year, I think. The war has not yet really begun. I do understand your optimism, though.
  7. Too much good living this offseason.
  8. I also think JBJ might be about to go on one of his good streaks with the bat.
  9. You can't really compare a CFer to a catcher defense-wise. There's no CERA for outfielders.
  10. First of all, very sorry about your dog. Individual LOB totaled 24, correct. If you scroll down further, at the end of the Batting stats you'll see the team LOB of 10. 24 is a pile, but I guarantee it's far from a record. I checked a couple of other box scores from last night and the Dodgers had 21 individual LOB in their 7-3 win over the Rays.
  11. It was actually 10 men left on base as a team.
  12. There's a paradigm shift though. The 'best reliever pitches the ninth' approach is changing throughout the game. And relievers with good numbers but few saves are getting paid.
  13. Max is just trying to figure out how to get Vaz's bat in the lineup more now that he's hitting so well.
  14. Vazquez could DH occasionally. I suspect that the team has already determined approx. how many games they want Vaz to catch this year, and it won't be affected much by how well he's hitting.
  15. I think you're right. It might have been Mookie and JBJ. I can't remember who the second name was.
  16. Yeah, 100% correct, just like when you said we should trade Mookie Betts for Matt Kemp.
  17. What to do? Relax and let Cora handle it all.
  18. I think I heard this right. The Warriors swept the Blazers in spite of trailing by 17 or 18 points in 3 of the 4 games.
  19. Yep. His batting avg. went up 2 points and his OPS went up 22 points.
  20. On the flip side, and this is totally unrelated to the above, but E-Rod is like a walking rabbit's foot when it comes to run support and winning games. The Sox have scored 8.77 runs per game in his starts this year and are 7-2. Over the last 2 seasons the Sox are an incredible 26-6 in E-Rod's starts.
  21. That's the problem with OPS - even significant differences look small. I'm not knocking JD at all, he's awesome. But I thought he would regress a bit this year.
  22. Core is running the pen the way he thinks best to win baseball games. He's not trying to limit guys' saves to suppress their future earnings.
  23. There is no 'JDM situation'. In case you didn't notice, his numbers are down from last year. 2018 was more than likely his career year. He'll be back next year at least for sure.
  24. You know harmony, he's always on the lookout to keep us Sox fans from getting carried away with irrational exuberance. He considers it a service to us.
  25. harmony will get back to us right after he does his next crucial Chavis-Middlebrooks Career Comparison Update.
