  1. Casas isn't getting traded. That ship has sailed. No worries about Bregman, that's not happening either. It's a purely academic debate.
  2. Jack is cheap as heck and causes no roster complications. It's no wonder the Sox are so big on him.
  3. I'm not all excited about Alex Bregman. I just have a feeling the alternative is Jack DIddlesquat.
  4. That's great about the holding firm thing, but Craig did say they need a RH bat, and he hasn't produced one. What was his alternative to Bregman is the question.
  5. Might as well hope for the best. It fits perfectly with this team's general approach!
  6. Sure feels like the "hope as a strategy" thing with Wong and a completely untested backup. Cheap, though.
  7. If they don't do anything further, the Sox 2025 offense is going to need Anthony and/or Campbell to instantly produce, or it could really stink. Especially if, God forbid, Devers's shoulder issues linger. Jansen for Chapman seems like a lateral move at best. They could easily have done more to bolster the late inning bullpen. Credit to Breslow for some bold starting pitching moves, but it still feels like there's something deeply wrong with this organization, And it seems pretty clear the something wrong is the attention they pay to the payroll budget and the bottom line.
  8. I don't know if the A's have actual fans any more, but if they did, Miller would probably be a fan favorite. A young flame-throwing closer. If they have fans, it would not be a popular move.
  9. Exploring is what our front office does best.
  10. And in mid-June or thereabouts Sam will be deployed once again to publicly opine that the team is underperforming.
  11. Fewer, I believe. Without looking it up, less refers to a single quantity, whereas fewer refers to individual items.
  12. Lots of time, they just would rather keep the money.
  13. Cora will be called upon to say "Yeah, we know what the projections say" with a knowing grin, just like he did last year, when they turned out to be dead on.
  14. All of which leaves us at #13 in projected WAR and about the same in projected payroll. Both better than average!
  15. I'd say 5 wins is a lot. We made a blockbuster trade for Crochet to try to add 4-5 wins, basically...
  16. We have to be careful, because old Sammy is getting pretty smooth with the lines. Here's what he actually said: "Even if it takes us over the CBT,” said Kennedy at the owners meetings, “our priority is 90 to 95 wins, and winning the American League East, and winning the division for multiple years.”
  17. The Ohtani investigation brings to mind the death of Spinal Tap drummer John "Stumpy" Pepys in a "bizarre gardening accident". Per bass player Derek Smalls: "The authorities said 'Best leave it unsolved'."
  18. See, the projections aren't corrupted by Recency Effect!
  19. I believe it was reported that Ohtani and the interpreter were close friends for years and Ohtani placed a lot of trust in him and counted on him to look after things besides the interpreting. Seems like he was the personal assistant. So you might be on kind of the wrong track there.
  20. It appears that the Sox big weakness in 2024 was actually a same-hand problem. Our righties couldn't hit righties (.646.) And our lefties couldn't lefties (.629). Horrific! Yankees: RH vs RH .783 LH vs LH .698
  21. Prior to the Yates signing, Cot's had the Dodgers at $374.7 million AAV + $122.5 projected tax = $497.2 million. A new record and climbing.
