  1. Nothing warms your heart like a little guy WITH A LITTLE SALARY who contributes.
  2. Keith Foulke is a textbook example of how some fans lose perspective. I believe that Foulke basically sacrificed his arm in the 2004 postseason for a championship. But in 2005, when he was pitching badly, there was no mercy for him. (Leading to the infamous/hilarious Johnny from Burger King line.)
  3. Well, I don't consider a 119 win season and world championship a 'flash in the pan'. 'Flags fly forever' is the correct phrase.
  4. Good stuff, danny. My perspective is a lot like yours. And I'm very proud of my signature line.
  5. I guarantee that's not the way the average Yankee fan feels.
  6. It does seem a strange choice, but it's pretty hard to argue with last year's results.
  7. As I've mentioned before, the 2008 Red Sox did pretty good after Theo stood pat. It's not a guaranteed death sentence.
  8. When your payroll is pushing the top threshold and your farm is depleted, then yeah, you pretty much need Plan A to work. Getting Cashner seemed like a decent little tweak.
  9. If we had some well-pitched starts lately the W-L record would be looking considerably better. We're losing a lot of games where we're putting up 5 runs or more.
  10. And what does that have to with how bad the starting pitching has been?
  11. C'mon now jung, cheap lines like that are not worthy of you.
  12. It's neither Cora's fault nor Dombrowski's fault how bad the starting pitching has been, IMHO. Fire LeVangie, of course.
  13. There was also a big story about how Sale wanted to do this to help the team a little.
  14. They can, it's called non-tendering.
  15. They could have had Corbin and Keuchel, though. The only cost with those two was money.
  16. If the Yankees win it this year it'll be Cashman's greatest triumph. If they don't, and the starting pitching is at fault, look out Brian.
  17. Price is enigmatic. Who would have thought he would step up the way he did last postseason?
  18. Price and Sale have been about the same, really. Our expectations of Sale are higher. Both have been considerably better than Porcello.
  19. You're right except the AAV is reduced to $25.6 million because of deferred money. This type of adjustment must have been something new in the last CBA.
  20. And if the starters are sucking the bullpen doesn't matter much. Last 3 games Sale, Price & Porcello gave us little chance.
  21. And you can say the same about the Yankees rotation: CC, Tanaka, Happ, Paxton - all diminished, based on the numbers German - only one on upswing Perhaps the rocket ball shouldn't be overlooked as a factor in all this...
  22. What was your point with that, anyway?
  23. Frankly all anyone cares about any more is the AAV. Sale's is $25.6 million because of deferred money in his contract.
  24. Sunk cost: a cost that has already been incurred and cannot be recovered. But yes, it's possible that he might actually earn his 2020 salary...
  25. I think Porcello may have ruined his arm last postseason chasing the ring, like Foulke in 2004.
