  1. We don't know for sure Porcello won't be back, actually.
  2. J. A. Happ got 2/34 plus a vesting option for another year at 17. Keuchel misread the market or overpriced himself, methinks.
  3. You don't know the real truth about things unless you watch Ancient Aliens.
  4. It's not a baseball name, but it has to be one of the worst/craziest/funniest names of them all. I found out yesterday that the name of the CEO of BMW North America is: Bernhard Kuhnt
  5. Ty Blach is sort of funny.
  6. Could Houston possibly win one of four against the A's? That'd be nice.
  7. Pretty good, Tyler.
  8. I'm looking through the box scores since the ASB and I can't see that many rest days. I know that we had the game where Devers and Beni sat, followed by the game that Betts didn't start. Other than that I don't know what rest days we're talking about. Before today we had played 125 games. Betts 124 games played Devers 122 Bogaerts 121
  9. s*** happens. s*** REALLY happens in baseball.
  10. Yes, he MIGHT pitch better than Porcello. Personally I have more faith in the team than I do in the fans to make these calls. They won't always be right, of course.
  11. After the All-Star break we had a long stretch of games with no days off. It did make sense to build in some rest days. And there really haven't been that many rest days. Whenever one of our studs sits one game people freak out about it.
  12. Sure, we could do what Moon suggested, cut Porcello, bring up Shawaryn, have piles of bullpen games and just have fun!
  13. There's a legitimate argument to be made that they should have just let Sale walk. I get that.
  14. That argument would need some support though.
  15. Well then, you don't really fully believe in him.
  16. "The non cliff dwellers". If any normal person is reading this they must be thinking, 'What are these lunatics talking about?' LOL
  17. I have no issues at all with Cora's rest philosophy. I like Cora a lot.
  18. No question. We'd be hearing from all quarters about how we f'd up again.
  19. If Sale needs TJS, it might be a lot better that it happened now instead of next April. Price's injury is not a big deal as I understand it. The 2019 Red Sox don't suck except by comparison to expectations. We're 66-59 with a 69-56 Pythagorean record and might have been capable of winning 90 games before the Sale injury. The Orioles suck.
  20. Sale also contributed heavily in 2017 and has been a perennial Cy Young contender. I see no parallel between him and Steve Pearce. What this all comes down to is the Sox evaluations of the health of Sale's arm. Those are certainly subject to scrutiny!
  21. Fans are brutal on managers. I had problems with Farrell toward the end because he seemed to have no idea how to handle things like the Pedroia-Machado incident.
  22. Cashner already got moved to the pen of course. To me it's all about whether the team is actually trying to win the games. If they make it obvious that they really don't care about winning or losing the games, the fans and media are going to know it. In last night's game when Owings pinch-hit for Holt, one of the fans here (hi Slash) went off on poor Cora about it. Fans still really care about winning the games.
  23. Players hardly ever sign significant extensions during the season. Can you remember any? There were some that were announced right after the season started, but that was for luxury tax manipulation.
  24. Yeah, thanks Cap'n Obvious. We really need your help to know what's going on.
  25. Wrong. If he plays the whole season, he becomes a free agent. It may have been a blunder to extend him because of his medical issues. But when people say you should wait until the end of the season to extend him, they don't know what they're talking about.
